Man I envy you guys, I love Singapore but I'm hoping to get there for the Chinese New Year Feb 1st. Leave some beer for me http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Dan - Hanging around on Sunday sounds like it could be fun.....Plans to be determined later.
Carol - I very much appreciate the offer of a pre-dinner drinks at the Conrad, but unless things have changed that I'm not aware of (and they may have, I've been out of town)....I'm planning on meeting Mauld at the Hyatt at approximately the same time. Best wishes. |

Well, I arrived in Singapore a few days ago. It is awesome. Weather is great. I decided to head north for a few days to KUL.
I don't check into the Conrad until Friday, so will be back by then. Can't wait til you all arrive. Can you say chilly crab http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif Funny that the United CTO is right across from Lau Pa Sat.... wondered why it was so popular. |
Just got the good news.

SweetWillie -
and,,,,, it's not a heckuva lot warmer in downtown Chicago either!! Looking forward to seeing everyone in SIN! Best wishes. |
Doggone it, I can't believe I was so close, yet so far from getting this to work.
But I'm determined to grab some miles anyway, so while my wife is out and about, I'm going to do a quick MIA-IAH-NRT-SIN and back on CO/NW. If anyone's going to be around at the SIN airport in the wee hours of the 22nd (arriving 12:45am, leaving 6:10am on NW19/20) keep an eye out for me. I'll have my Flyertalk baggage tags with me on my backpack. Steve |
Is it okay if this NON-SIN-runner crashes the party at the NRT RCC on Friday? I sure hope they have the beer machines operational in the new RCC!! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif Thanks to a last minute deal, I'm on UA837 SFO-NRT tomorrow (16 Jan), upgraded to 16G. JSD: did you try pricing NRT-SIN separately?
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif i read 'several times' as much - so i think you would have found it would have been an extra 50% maybe that way. |
Sweet Willie: Is your travel agent someone I could talk to? Those prices are not bad, better than I saw awhile ago. Sigh.
Other than a few properties, Hilton does treat golds pretty decently, it seems. |

My FT weekend started on my flight from LAX to NRT when a gentleman arrived, sporting an electric green FlyerTalk tag on his case. He turned out to be rbernheim. Sure enough, the only two FTers enroute to SIN on this particular segment were seated in 15A and 15B.
Favorable tail winds landed us in NRT an hour early, and we headed to the RCC. It is HUGE and it was FULL. I commandeered a conference room - only had to give up my boarding card for SIN in order to get it. rbernheim found new FTers Mr. and Mrs. goodknight who were the earliest to arrive, having come in from Honolulu. Excellent photography by techgirl meant I was able to spot JSD as he walked in the door with Warrenlm. JSD visited with us before heading into Tokyo for the weekend; Warrenlm was enroute to BKK. ws8n came off the SFO flight; he is in the process of relocating to SIN. We have pled with him to join us for dinner tonight, but he seems to think that finding a place to live is imperative. mauld joined us for a visit, before returning to her other carrier http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif. mjm will always be my hero for showing up with the most extensive collection of Pockys I have ever seen! mmmmmmm On our flight to SIN, FTers took over row 15. I met estnet for the first time, seated in 15A. ws8n was in 15B; rbernheim in 15H and mjm in 15J. At last I got to meet generous bseller, who has kindly made his European phone available to other FTers. But where was PeteFLYS? He was supposed to join us from his AA flight in from Dallas. I didn't see him - I hope he is here in town. Me - I had to go back downstairs to 22A, and the goodknights held up the rear of the plane in coach. But I had Pockys to keep me happy. Once in SIN, we met at baggage claim - looked at each other, talked about drinks - and all found taxis to head to our individual hotels and separate beds. bseller was a gracious gentleman and saw me to the Hilton, before he headed to the Sheraton. I am to meet transpac for vegetarian Indian food for lunch today; then we've got our chili and pepper crabs tonight. Eating our way thru Singapore? Well, yes - and it's a lot of fun! MikeinSIN, I'm calling you yet today - GuyBetsy, we miss you. [This message has been edited by SanDiego1K (edited 01-17-2003).] |
Just checking in sorry I missed everyone in NRT my flight got in late.I went directly to the gate as I still had no boarding pass.I lost my seat upstairs so I was in 8H.I will bwe in the regency club around 6ish see everyone for dinner tonight.
JSD wish you would have made it down here! |
The back up crew is in NRT. See you soon.
Dan,Kenji,Sweet Willie. |
...and the requisite stop to the SQ lounge has been done, too. The new UA lounge is crowded though its pretty.

Nice to meet everyone in the NRT RCC! I am jealous that everyone else is in SIN eating chili crabs, but not too much so, as I am enjoying outstanding sushi and okonomiyaki here in Tokyo. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif The new RCC is indeed huge and was VERY crowded that afternoon. I guess thats what happens when you have like six 747-400s all departing around 5pm. On a positive note, they now have THREE NRT RCC Amazing Beer Machines operating, so I was quite satisfied. |
