For those who have mentioned Joe T. Garcia's, yes, that is the spot we are eyeballing for Saturday's dinner event. I'm working on getting this reserved early - in the winter months, they have much less seating available than in the summer, so they book quickly. MMM... good inexpensive Tex-Mex cooking and STRONG margaritas!
Friday night, we are thinking we will do a casual "come when you can" deal at a downtown draught emporium. For those who want dinner first, we can make some great restaurant suggestions on Sundance Square - and those who wish to dance or sing karaoke until the wee hours (well, 2 am when all the bars close) can do so at several local bars.
I will be getting in touch with all the DFW area folks who have volunteered to help out sometime in mid-to-late September once the dust settles on some major work projects early this month.
Once we have all had the chance to get together, we will have more of the logistical details available.

So, anyone who has a violent fear of karaoke could always go hang out in one of the other areas.

Where are we going? And why am I in this handbasket?

I think everyone could benefit from a little Nancy Sinatra with their wine.

Looks like The Westin Beechwood has some discounted rates available for these dates, including:
AAA 21 day advance purchase - $99 traditional/$119 deluxe. Requires a non-refundable deposit equal to the entire length of stay.
SPG50% Off - $140 traditional/$150 deluxe. Can be placed on a 4 PM hold until travel plans are firmed up. Be sure to guarantee with a credit card if you know your arrival is past 4 PM.
Best regards,

Thanks for the Starwood deals, Lurker... and I've seen them dip even lower on the nonrefundable prepay rates right before the weekends... $79 or so.
One BIG warning for those looking at the Westin, however... it is located fifteen miles north of downtown. Fort Worth does NOT have good public transportation, so you will HAVE to have a rental car to get around.
(Dallas is the same way... the Metroplex is just completely car dependent!)
We are kicking around the idea of getting a bus for Saturday night, as the restaurant/bar we are looking at will require driving, but have to look at the cost, liability, etc.
It is still early... around October/November, we will post a list of suggested hotels and both their airport transportation options and accessibility to the things we are planning.
What does this mean for attendees? Well... it means that if you want to be in walking or easy transport distance to events, you may need to be flexible on hotel brand. If you want to get stay credit at Starwood or Hilton properties, you may need to rent a car and be willing to put a lot of miles on it during the weekend.

Those willing to forego the points (I know, I know...
) for the sake of something a little more interesting may wish to check out The Stockyards Hotel.
A cattle drive past your window every day, and within drunken, cavorting, stumbling distance of Billy Bob's every night! Who could ask for more?
