The health club was very nice as well, had a large-ish fitness area, but I went right for the whirlpool which was nice. It also had sauna and a large changing room. That's all I remember offhand, if you have any specific questions, feel free to post here or email me, and I'll do my best. |
Is it too late to 'sneak' on board with all you guys for the plans in SEA? Are there anymore baseball game seats left? Reading all these threads makes me think that you guys sure do have a lot of fun!!! I'll be at the ORD 'do', and now how about SEA. Is it too late and filled up? Carolyn

I just went ahead and booked the Hyatt through Priceline ... $40/night for a Hyatt with free high-speed internet access ... how could I pass it up? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
Priceline details: Zone: Downtown Stars: 4* Price: $40/night (I bid $39/night and was rejected) |

Our group seats for the game are currently all spoken for, but as for the rest of the weekend, of course you are welcome to join us! And if you really want to attend the game...i believe there are single seats left throughout the ballpark you could buy. I'm going to be firming up plans and getting reservations made after the Chicago Do. Looking forward to meeting you! |
Hello Everyone!
Beckles' $40 Hyatt rate via Priceline got me thinking that I'd better get on the stick and get some accomodations lined up for SeaDoo 4. I like staying downtown, but would rather stay in the suburbs if there is a substantial parking fee. How much do the downtown Seattle hotels typically charge for parking? Would any of these suburbs be generally not acceptable? Which is closest to the stadium where the Mariners play? Bellevue Bothell Downtown Seattle Lake Union Lynnwood - Edmonds North Seattle Redmond - Kirkland Renton - Kent Seattle Airport (SEA) The list of suburbs is from Priceline. Thank you! ------------------ Middle_Seat |
There are obstructed view seats left at $23 bucks each.Downtown is where safeco is on the south end of town. The airport isnt that far i think but missy could tell u better.

Probably around 20-25 blocks or so. Lake Union would be the next closest. I don't know how much parking is at the hotels downtown, but I believe the Hampton Inn and the Homewood Suites has free parking and they're right near the Space Needle (kinda downtown). |

Typical Parking at Seattle Downtown Hotels is between $18-24 per day, from what I've experianced. I know all of the buildings around the WaMu tower, and Benoroya hall are $18-20 a day, and the bus tunnel is directly attatched or underneith them.

I personally think you're better off staying downtown. Hotel parking runs in the $22-$24 range from what I've seen. If you drive in from the burbs for the events, you're likely to get dinged for parking anyway. The downtown hotels are all within walking or free bus zone distance from the vast majority of the stuff we are doing. If you want to forgo the car altogether, I'm sure arrangements can be made for you to carpool with a local for anything we do thats not downtown.

Thank you! </font> Bothell - Burb of Bellevue, also sorta across the Lake. Same comments of Bellevue, a good 20+ minute drive to Seattle, depending on whether or not you get lost. Downtown Seattle - Missy summed it up best. This is your best choice, do this. Lake Union - Depending on where you measure downtown Seattle from, Lake Union is built into the side of it. Basically, a 10 min drive to Safeco in a car, or you can take a bus. Not a bad place, probably my second choice behind downtown. Lynnwood/Edmonds - Near my home. Unless you are asking for pain by Traffic (can be anywhere from 30M-1Hour easy), I'd suggest not doing this. There are plenty of places to eat in the Lynnwood Hotel area, along with the 2nd/3rd largest mall in the state. All the Hotels that I can think in this area are nearly brand new. North Seattle - Kinda a broad area, as it encompasses everything from Lynnwood to Seattle. Depending on where they put you, traffic could be fun. If in the Greenlake area, not too bad. Redmond/Kirkland - Just like Bothell, except the main campus of Microsoft is in Redmond. That's really the only claim to fame this place has. Renton/Kent - Ouch. Run for your life. Actually, it's not a bad (like crime) type area, just not like North of Seattle. Generally, Pacific Northwestern people make fun of this area, it's an old habit. Seattle Airport - Not bad I suppose, basically like Renton/Kent. On the viaduct/highway 99, it takes roughly 16 minutes to get to the 2nd and Seneca Street exit (I've got this down to a fine art), from there it will take between 5-7 minutes to get to Safeco, depending on number of Red Stop Lights you hit. So...overall, choose downtown, then Lake Union, then maybe North Seattle, then Airport, then Eastside (Bellevue, and burbs), then Lynnwood, then Kent area. Have fun! |
For those of you who favor that "other" team.... They always stay at the Westin when they are in town. So if any of you want to stalk them, thats where ya wanna stay http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

You can take a metro bus from the airport to downtown for $1.25 and back again. That way you don't have to worry about parking. If you're planning on staying and doing things in town, you won't need a car. There is the free bus zone and taxis as well as those of us who are locals will have cars. You can also rent a car on a daily basis picking it up downtown.
Parking can also be had for $5 on the weekends near Washington Mutual - up to 23 hours. The reason I would not recommend any of the places you listed outside of downtown is because of traffic. No matter what anybody says, EVERYWHERE there is traffic. . .all of the time http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif |
Downtown is just plain more fun.

This is my plan for the weekend.
