Does this mean more karaoke at Jaliscos?

Gaucho100K Jul 1, 2002 3:22 pm

Ticket issued, my itinerary is:

JUL 26 UA25 JFK-SEA 1800-2059
JUL 28 UA487SEA-SFO 1930-2132
JUL 28 UA4 SFO-JFK 2215-0637+1

So.... where is everybody crashing? I would prefer a Starwood property, if convenient.

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/redface.gif ... and the gaucho too! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

And, Beckles, I can tell you right now, there is no way I will be in the mood to 'van' it down to PDX after a full day of work followed by RDU-CLT and then another 5 hours to SEA in row 1. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Besides, if Matt's or techchica's or gaucho's or any other FTer flights getting in to SEA that night get delayed or, god forbid, cancelled, that throws a wrench in the works... Going Sat. morning just seem so much more civilized and prudent.

On the 26th Peregrine will be returning from Bangkok and Viet Nam. He plans to crash at home during the day and then we will drive down to PDX in the evening, hopefully picking up our daughter in Olmpia along the way. We will drive back on Sunday, stopping in Olympia.

We are staying at the Westin in PDX both Friday and Saturday nights.

Having taken the train to SEA and to PDX both, I can tell you the stations are conveniently right downtown. We took the train last year to the Brewfest (this year as well), and the ES was happy to pick us up and drop us off at the train station which is really only a short distance away anyway.

Same story in Seattle. Too far to walk to most hotels with any luggage, but courtesy vans, buses, and taxis are all cheap, easy alternatives.

The only caveat would be to avoid Train 14 out of PDX as this train, the Coast Starlight which comes from LA, can run really late. That is also Train 11 out of SEA but that is its northern terminus, so you should be OK.

If you travel in Business Class, you get a $3 food and drink voucher that I know from experience can be used for alcoholic beverages. Also, don't forget to collect your AS miles.

Er... I arrive late on the 26th to SEA... so when do you leave for PDX, Milady?

Koko, will we do SEA on Friday night and then PDX on Saturday? Please advise so I can figure out hotels.

Hmm. Just decide on Friday or Saturday. If you are going down Friday night, I am going to fly to PDX. If Saturday, I could probably be convinced to come to SEA Friday and leave from PDX on Sunday. As usual, I don't have flights booked yet.

Koko, its your call then. Im flying to SEA, so maybe we should get Flaky to show us around. John, just fly into SEA and we can set up base camp there for the night, move on to PDX next day. Maybe we should do this by car...

chexfan Jul 1, 2002 4:52 pm

Don't forget about the taxi from the SEA train station to Sea-Tac!

For the new comers, I'll be flying into PDX from SFO on the morning of the 27th. And getting back to SEA... well... I guess that has yet to be decided! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

STILL TO BE DECIDED ????!!!!!!! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/eek.gif

OK. I'll play hostess Friday night and figure out where we will carouse.

If anyone needs a pickup from the airport I am happy to oblige.

As for traveling to and from Portland, I vote for the train or my Expedition--take your pick.

Would you like some cheese with that whine?

My idea of civilized and prudent is being a 3.5 minute walk to the beer fest when I wake up Saturday morning, not a 3.5 hour drive/train ride ... but that's just me. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/tongue.gif

Leadership dictates: friday night around 10 or 10:30 we gather at a local watering hole. since i am booked at the homewood downttown, jalescos or ozzies seem appropriate. Sat. morning we rally around either the amtrak or dish's expiditin and a rented navigator...so that is the only question. Personally i lean toward the train so at we cn 'warm up' forr he fst in the bar car...but, again, am up for anyying.... There.
