Maybe if I can bum a ride from one of my friends on Friday.

No for Saturday.

No for Sunday.

Okay, so here is the new strategery. On Friday, I will talk with the folks who show up and see what we want to do for the Sunday brunch. We are way below the 20 that I need in order to get a room to ourselves, but I can call them on Saturday, tell them we have x people, and just make the reservation that way.

As for whether or not there's food at both places, yes, there is. It's mostly bar type food, but it will fill you up.

On Friday, just head upstairs and that's where the festivities will be. We'll probably have to just meet at the front of Buffalo Billiards on Saturday because there is no way that we should pay $600 to reserve a room.

Any questions? Ask them now, so that we avoid any confusion as the date approaches.

A few of us made reservations for the Brickskiller on Saturday night for 7 pm. We'll grab a few brews there and dinner before we go to Buffalo Billiards.

We'll be heading over after 5:15 Mass so we might be in the bar before our reservation at 7 if folks are congretating.

Good deal with the pre-Saturday activities. I'll likely be busy in the afternoon -- it's like I live in DC and have a life or something -- so I wouldn't be able to arrange anything that day.

Anyway, take it easy and I will see you in a couple of weeks, folks!

I'm yes for Friday
Maybe for Saturday
Yes for Sunday

Woodly/zoo and DUpont CIrcle are quit a distance apart. Which is closer?
I don't believe parking is too bad around 18th street. Haven't been in that area in awhile. Used to live nearby.

I've walked from both, and Dupont is easier for me. It's about a 10-15 minute walk from there.

As for parking, good luck! It gets pretty hairy down there. Seeing how we're starting relatively early, though, it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

I'm in for Friday and Saturday. No for Sunday brunch. Looking forward to it.

DONT try to park near Adams Morgan. Do yourself a favor and take a $4 taxi. The reality is by the time you find a spot to park you'll need a taxi anyway.

I'll be getting in from NYC between 4-6pm Friday, either into DCA or Union Station if I decide to forgo the miles to try out the Acela.

I have a pressing engagement at 7:30am Saturday morning. Will there be a penalty for starting and ending relatively early at Staccato???

back seat Jun 18, 2002 2:26 pm

In case anybody is keeping score, I am now out. . . . my trip is being post-poned to the middle of July.

Hope everybody has a great time though!

Ther's a bus that goes straight up connecticut from Dupont Circle and then up 18th Street I forgot the number. The only other bus continues on Connecticut. I do know a few secret places to park there, but night time is not a good time to be walking in those areas.

DC has changed a lot since I lived there.

Thers also a bus that goes down from woodly, Conn Ave, onto Adams Mill RD and then 18th Street.

If anyone is interested, I'll check on the bus numbers. Otherwise I believe thats a 6-8 block uphill walk from Dupont circle.

mdtony Jun 19, 2002 7:16 am

Faye, it's completely safe to be walking around the Dupont area. I don't know how long it's been since you lived here, but Dupont has been very gentrified. It may be the safest part of town to be at if you're a woman, because the gay population is so big around there.

Just keep your eyes open and you'll be fine. Otherwise, you might want into a truck or something.

I don't recommend taking the bus. It's way too much of a hassle. You can just walk to where you have to go.

A Freak Jun 20, 2002 2:30 pm

I think I've convinced Ratgirl to join in the fun Friday night...she may even join in again Saturday (unlike me) if we manage to convince her that we are not ALL freaks...
