World Cup attendees, shall we meet for drinks?
Wondering if there is interest to meet for drinks/dinner among any of you that may be coming to Tokyo or Japan in general for the World Cup (or who will happen to be here during that time).
I live here and have discussed with JAP, who is coming for the festivities, the possibility of a Tokyo FT dinner/drink.
Probably the week of 10-14 June will be the most likely for such a get together. If you are interested, in town and up for a FT meet, just post here and I shall try to coordinate a place and time that works for everybody that will be here.
Hope to see you in my adopted town,
Mike

Gaucho, you realize I meant the Football World Cup and not the "Handball" World Cup.
Sorry, but I couldn't resist. Too many years living in London.

No worries, Dude.....
Check out the thread on OMNI about who will win the thing. Looks like some of the English fans are taking the cup a tad too seriously....
I mean, are the English fans still crying about Diego's hand..... You would think that after the second goal they would realize that they could never have won that match anyway....

I'll be arriving in Tokyo on Sat 8th June at the Hilton Shinjuku for 6 nights ....
Won't be available on the nights of the 11th & 13th as I'm at some World Cup matches.
However, I'm on for the 8th, 9th, 10th & 12th - I would suggest in the Shinjuku area
By the way, Ireland don't expect to win the World Cup (unlike England), but we'll enjoy it anyway - It's going to be one gigantic party in the Irish pubs ......
See you then .... JAP

Well JAP with my last name being what it is and half my kin hailing from Cork I think I might be inclined to pop along to one of those pubs and enjoy a quiet pint or two.
See you here,
Mike

Mike,Beware !! One thing that those Irish pubs will not be at that time is quiet !
Tim2008, Which team will you be cheering ? Will it b Engerland or Deutschland ? Could possibly meet up with you in Ibaraki also for the Irl V Ger match if the latter.
Magic111, won't you be nearly out of the tournament by then
Only joking .....
Anyone else going ?

U.S. is in Group D with South Korea, Poland, and Portugal.
Teams play a round robin (ties stand) in the group and the top two teams advance to knockouts (each game must have a winner)
In the latest FIFA/Coca-Coal rankings the US is ranked 13th in the world.
Sorry Michael but I will only be connecting at nrt.

magic111,
So you're with Portugal then ..... I thought you were with another team
Did you make any of the Portugal Vs Ireland games in the qualifiers ?
I think that you guys will go a long way in the tournament - after all, you nearly beat Ireland in the initial stages !!

magic111,
Not to fear. The invitation stands any time.
JAP,
Of the above mentioned time spent in London, 2 years were in Kilburn. Irish pubs were second home for a while. Mother's milk and sport, beautiful.
