New York: Better strip clubs and Broadway is pretty cool. Definitely best restaurants. But face it folks, you are rude and agressive. Take it as I mean it: a compliment.

LA: Best enjoyed one Yard(house) at a time. The laidbackness hides a wicked passive-agressive streak.

Seattle: I've yet to meet anyone there that I didnt like. But the laidbackness hides some serious fascist tendencies (try walking against the light and you'll see what I mean).

As for baseball, I quit caring once the players and owners raped the fans out of the World Series. Why would ANYONE care to support those bloated arrogant cretons? Sure, I still go to an ocassional game (including, in the past year a Yankee, Orioles, Mariners, Dodgers and Giants game). OK, maybe more then ocassiona, but frankly I go for the beer and leave once it stops flowing...

And to get back on topic, I wore a San Francisco 49ers cap to the Mariners game last summer, and was left well enough alone...of course I was sitting in the first row of the club level, so......

I'm not going to compare the Washington football program to Notre Dame or Penn State or Ohio State (although in the past 3 years the purple and gold have been far more successful than that trio.). Actually, I will compare it to Notre Dame, where half the fans sold their tickets to Nebraska fans 2 years ago. Off the top of my head, OSU, PSU, Tennessee, the Florida schools, Nebraska, Michigan, Oklahoma, Texas and Texas A&M probably have better fans. But thats about it.

I was simply comparing Husky football fans to fans of other Seattle sporting entities. In this comparison, the devotion of Dawg fans far eclipses the devotion of Mariner, Sonic and Seahawk fans.

As for a UO/UW game at Husky Stadium, unless it wasn't football, it was 3 years ago. Huck the Fuskies isn't uncommon; we got that from K-State fans and Texas fans at the Holiday bowls. If it was the UW victory at night 3 seasons ago vs. Oregon, then I don't know what our fans were doing. I do know, however, the Colorado fans were definately harassed in 1999. I know that Oregon alums who drive to Eugene from the state of Washington find their cars (thanks to their WA state tags) vandalized. I know that Oregon fans throw dog feces on Husky players in Eugene. And Oregon receives similar treatment from us. Its not the same level as other rivalries, but its the best of the worst the Northwest has to offer.

Back to the thread. Wear whatever the heck you want to Safeco field. No one cares. In fact, I hope there are lots of Yankee fans in the stadium this weekend. It will show how sad Mariners' ticket holders are for selling their tickets while their team plays some of the best regular season baseball in history.

People are mauled weekly in Seattle for wearing Yankees gear. I've seen groups drag people to Westlake Center and stone them. It is not safe. Don't wear a Yankees shirt. Your life could be in danger.

Just kidding. You should be fine. Maybe a couple of hecklers in the stands, all I could foresee.

So aside from the Mariners, was anyone beaten or abused at this weekend's series?

Great job Yankees on this past west coast tour: won 2 out of 3 against the A's; won 2 out of 3 against the Mariners. Two very tough teams. I'm going to both Yankee/Mariner games this Saturday and Sunday. Can't wait!

There's not enough attention being paid here to the effect of local atmospheric changes on the fan mood. Our over-Starbucksed population is jittery and sensitive to Boeing layoff announcements, a drop in the price of Microsoft, and a forecast of yet more rain in the forecast.

Keep up on the news and stash a Mariner's hat in your back pocket just in case.

Just for future reference, wearing Yankees gear at Safeco is allowed but wearing "Yankees Suck" shirts is not allowed.
