I'll be in Singapore 14th-18th. Looks like you're flying home via HKG (does that route exist any longer?) and I'm flying home via NRT.
I'd double check your return flights. My HKG-SIN flight is gone on Oct 14th, and I suspect your SIN-HKG flight on the 18th may be gone too. I don't see it on the schedule. I was rerouted on Qantas for that segment into SIN.

tom911, you're right! A quick check on the UAL website and follow up call to UA indicates that my flight was cancelled, so I'm now on, what appears to be the same flight as you. Are you on the 7:35 am?
I'll be there from 10/11 - 10/18, perhaps we can get together in town or at the airport for a meal.

Raffy-- Same flight! Let's try to set something up before we both head over (I'll take this to e-mail from here).

Hey Tom911, funny running into you at Plaza Singapora today, gosh, was it ever warm and humid in SIN this week. I'm afraid that I will be leaving SIN tomorrow am instead of Thursday and won't be in town to meet up for dinner as planned. Have a good time in town, don't forget to go to the Boat Quay and Clarke Quay for yummy local specialties!

Forget Clarke Quay. If you want REAL satays, go to Lau Pa Sat. Any taxi drivers will know where it is. It's basically a huge food, eh market. In the evenings (yes go in the evenings) the side road closes and tables and chairs are laid out there and you order the satays and various other foods to your table. Beer too!
Or go to the famous Newton Circus Hawker Centre - where everyone goes...
Too bad I won't be in town, otherwise I would be more than happy to take you guys around. I'm off to Australia on Thursday.
Dress lightly!

Essxjay,
I am going to be finishing classes on Friday the 2nd and will be leaving the next morning early so cannot see much point in sleeping. Are you still young enough to handle a late night beer after you get in at around 1:00am?
Would be fun to hook up that night late with anyone in town.
Raffy and Tom911, when I read about the Starbucks with the umbrellas I wondered if that was the one you went to. A few have them, but Plaza Singapura is my local. It is across the street from the University of Chicago campus there. Small world.
So beers on 11/2 late?
Mike

Hey, I'm still on for my mileage run on the 18th. Looks like alone on the way over on the 18th, but hooking up with 1K-SFO on the return on the 21st. Anyone still there? Or am I set to be all alone in Singapore for a day and 1/2 to explore by myself? Oh well, it's better than just 2 hrs at CDG like my run last year.
