bollar,
Thanks for the Yahoo! Group!
ChuckDEE, thanks for your offer. We will appreciate any and all who assist in this matter. And an early "Welcome to the Metroplex" to you!
There's an AA contact who is doing just fine with some of the events right now! We'll keep ya posted!
ChuckDEE, Anna, techgirl, and SuperSlug, I'm letting Applefan know your interest, so you'll be on the list.
:-)
Some of us are meeting this Saturday, to get some firm events/dates/times, so there'll be new information to give to you after then.

That was discussed today in the meeting.
Tours will not begin until the month of September, and will only be conducted on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, according to their website.
However, there is a Dallas Stars-Washington Capitals hockey game on Friday, 9/22, at 07:30 P.M., and Janet Jackson's "All For You" concert is in the facility on Saturday, 9/22, at 08:00 P.M.
Our only hope would be that tours would be allowed while they set up for the game on Friday afternoon, and this is contingent on the final slate of events decided on for that day. I'll check into it.
Maybe there is a music industry insider here on FT who can get us backstage passes to her concert, or Platinum seats or a skybox! Even better if a Stars or Capitals insider is here. We could go to the game after the dinner in Dallas.
I like the idea of seeing the arena, especially the AA-owned area with the model aircraft displays.
:-)

This looks like fun, put me down as tentative. It would be great to see AA and DFW behind the scenes.
Would like to attend hockey game as well, hope you don't mind I cheer for the Caps though!

burkey,
There is no official hotel as such but if you need a recommendation please ask us local FTers. Also, there is a long list of hotel possiblities on the PIM website. The DFW Hyatt would a great place with its central location, low weekend rates, free parking, and bonus promotions. One confirmed person is staying there so far. It would also give an airport atmosphere for the weekend.

Wow... sounds like a fun weekend!
I'm still hoping to make it that weekend.
With regard to the hote, I have stayed at the DFW Hyatt a few times and have to say that it is getting old. I heard that the hotels just outside of the immediate airport area is nicer. I think Marriott is one of them. Anyone else have suggestions?

For those with a Hilton affinity, there is a very large Embassy Suites directly north of the airport. In the same vicinity, there is the DFW Hilton Lakes... I've had friends get great room rates there.

Re: the D/FW Marriott:
Uh-oh. I forgot there's a Cowboys game in town that Sunday. The Cowboys (and, consequently, a bunch of their fans) overnight at the D/FW Marriott North before home games. This means several things:
1) Lots of loud football groupies in the lobby (but I've never had a noise problem in my room)
2) Book a room early if you want to stay there, it'll fill up quick
3) You won't get upgraded to the Presidential Suite, because that's where the coach stays. Sorry.
