SNA 09/02 - FT lunch

To make it more clear to everybody, I decided to start a new thread regarding Rudi coming to the U.S. and another meeting near SNA.

I will be flying to CA on 09/01 as well, and in the other thread, we decided to meet for lunch near SNA on 09/02.

So far, it seems like Rudi and me (rcs85551) plus a maybe from SanDiego1K and AnnaS (chat).

Please post here to confirm / add yourself to the list.

I am looking forward very much for this sunday brunch or lunch.

I'll stay (Saturday to Sunday) at the Irvine Marriott (tf 949-726-3608, Rudi Martel) and will leave SNA on Sunday, sep-2 at 16:55 (UA 5311 to LAX and further on).

My plane leaves at 10:30 am, but I might be able to change it.

I think auh2o wants to come along as well.

I should be able to meet all of you for brunch on the 2nd. I am having Lasik on 08/31 and hopefully won't run into any problems.

The big questions are now:
a) where to meet
b) which restaurant?

I do know my way around the area, but I am not familiar with the restaurants nor SNA airport itself.
Anybody any suggestions?

There is a Houston's about 5 minutes away, and a couple other restaurants near the Houston's. There is also an Edwards movie theatre, and an 18 hole putting green. A bit further away is the South Coast Plaza, and some good restaurants. Even further is Fashion Island. Nothing more than 15 minutes from SNA.

Wish I could be there! Will be out of town for the labor day weekend.

I'm fairly sure I can make it.

There is a Yardhouse nearby so we can see which Flyertalkers can down a Yard. Again! The Yardhouse is also a good place for a large lunch group. Rudi, I don't know if a Yard of beer is good or bad for your constitution before a flight to BKK?

Newself, I can give you a ride if you haven't recovered yet. In either case, I'm sure you could use a Yard.

I'm in. I'll see if I can twist Captain Mike's arm to make the drive north with me.

Stimpy,

You bet I could use a ride that day. Besides needing a yard or three, it will be good to see you again! Even more clearly this time without glasses or contacts!

OK, so there seems to be consent about the Yard House. I guess we'll take the Irvine location - I am quite stunned that I actually know where it is and how to get there
For those in need of additional info: http://www.yardhouse.com

I will call them later today and check about their hours and check whether we'll need a reservation or not.

I'm in for this as well! I just need to be able to get back to LAX in time for my 4PM flight back to ORD. Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Finally I can meet some of the local people, and some of the more distant! I would like to attend also.
