Saturday is the first seder, so I definately can't come on Saturday. I still plan on coming Friday, and I'm trying to talk my dad into coming (although he probably won't).

jongar, the more the merrier. Please check out the advice offered in the thread http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum94/HTML/004325.html and then reverse it. The bottom line is that there are numerous ways of getting between midtown NYC and EWR, ranging from public transportation to private cars, depending on your desired level of inconvenience and the amount of money you wish to pay for the privilege. I did this "commute" a couple of weeks ago and opted for a middle of the road approach by using a shared door to door service, which generally prices out at $14-$16. Several companies offer this service, including Grayline, which I dislike, and Olympia, which was OK.

The details have not yet been worked out for Saturday but I will have a car so I can offer you a lift from EWR to the restaurant. Once you arrive at EWR, grab the free shuttle to the EWR Hilton (908-351-3900) and we can go to the restaurant from there. If this is of interest, lets work out the best time to meet.

An even nicer place to assemble ahead of time would be CO's wonderful President Club in terminal C, as we did last time. Are there any prospective dinner attendees who would mind bringing in a guest to the President's Club for some pre-dinner drinks? I'm buying!

Here is the current plan:

Friday:

Catman, Kitty Hawk and I will meet at the Parsippany Embassy Suites and then head over to Arthur's, which is located right across from the Morris Plains train station. We should all try to be there by 7:00PM but they do not take reservations so if it looks crowded, whoever shows up first, ask for a nonsmoking table (i.e. upstairs) for six people. They also do not take credit cards so you will need to bring cash.

Arthur's address is 700 Speedwell Ave and free parking is available nearby (not at the train station). The phone number is 973-455-9705.

The confirmed guest list is LarryU, Catman, Kitty Hawk, markbach and nj_flyer. Doc and motnot are maybes.

Saturday:

Catman suggested we try Don Pepe's, located at 844 McCarter Highway in Newark (phone 973-623-4662). Catman will make reservations; does anyone have a preference for a specific time?

The confirmed guest list is LarryU, RichG, Vulcan, Kitty Hawk and Jongar. Catman is still working out his schedule. Other maybes include Doc and motnot. Vulcan, can the mayor come?

Jongar, let me know when you plan to check in at the EWR Hilton. I have a President's club pass so we can dash over there for cocktails, if you like.

Absolutely. Catman and I will be in the bar area by 5:30 and will hang around until a little after 6:30, before heading over to the restaurant. Kitty Hawk will be arriving by 6:15 or so. If in doubt, ask anyone at the front desk where to find me.

Update for Saturday

Catman has made reservations for six at Don Pepe's at 7:00PM. This should give him enought time to get back to EWR from LI. If anyone else thinks they might be able to attend, let us know and we'll bump up the reservation accordingly.

I will be there alone on Saturday. It turns out that The Mayor has to go to a political "screening". Thank goodness I have a more "important" meeting to go to.

I cancelled my hotel because I need to be back early Sat, so I'd just assume drive back Friday. I'll probably show up about 5:30-6. I assume its the standard ES layout with the bar/snacks in the Atrium?

Yep. Turn to the left after you walk past the front desk then continue walking for about five seconds; the bar area will be on your right.

Friday pre-dinner get-together change of plans

As I informed a few of you via email, I just received a letter from Embassy Suites notifying me that a craft fare is scheduled to begin there on Friday evening. My immediate response was to book a room at the Hilton. I will not subject my friends or myself to a gaggle of thousands of people who choose to spend their day searching through two entire floors of used Christmas ornaments.

Based on some preliminary feedback to my initial email, here is plan B. Catman and I will hook up in the early afternoon and then meander over to SageBrush, where we will see how many 42 oz Sam Adams we can imbibe and still be able to move. So for those of you who had planned to hook with us at the hotel, you will probably find us at SageBrush by 5:30 or so; we will then head to Arthurs by about 6:45. SageBrush's address is:

Sagebrush Steak Cantina
38 Horsehill Rd
(bet. Hanover Ave. & Ridgedale Rd.)
Cedar Knolls
201-539-3324 http://www.zagat.com/search/Details....1&PID=1&LID=42

If approaching via Rt 10 FROM 287, take the appropriate U Turn that will place you on Rt 10 eastbound. Make a left on Ridgedale Ave and then proceed to the south for about five minutes or so, past 4-5 lights. At one of the intersections, look for Horse Hill Road on your right; it may be hard to see. Make a right and then follow the road as it curves to the left. Look for SageBrush on the right after about 30 seconds or so.

I hope to see you all there; otherwise, I'll meet you at Arthur's at 7:00PM
