Ok that's three people I count who owe me a handshake.

Glad it all worked out. It seems like the Renaissance ran out of inventory and the Marriott opened up at that time.

Met up with TropicalFlyer and auh20 at the Hilton, then newself, MRLIMO, dgolds and AustMan met us at a nice Italian restaurant (Artusi-52nd St.) for dinner.

We took a limo to Idlewild where we joined a number of other FT'ers for an very enjoyable time.

Some new folks I met for the first time at Idlewild were svpii, travel4free and MRKEY, along with the others there (Catman, Punki & Joe, wanderlust, AnnaS, KittyHawk, EPS, dhammer53 and a few more).

Last night, I had to make the incredibly hard decision to cancel my reservation at the Hilton Times Square and not make the flight to NYC for the CMD3 due to personal reasons in the Emerald City. I realize that no one is going to lose sleep over this, but I just wanted to let everyone know that FT's biggest Survivor2 fan wouldn't be in the Big Apple for the Do!

I hope everyone has a blast!

Good friends,

Apologies for not being able to make Idlewild last night--I had gotten home late from a 4 city 4 day trip, and there was too much to do here at home.

Since there was not space for me at the dinner, I send my regards from here and wish you all a wonderful weekend--perhaps I will get to join you all on another occasion.

Best regards,

Art at ISP

I guess I get to post the first semi-trip report from the CatManDo! I showed up for the pre-dinner drinks; unfortunately it was real crowded and I only got to introduce myself to a few Flyertalkers -- only the ones Scott the flier could introduce to me since I had no idea who anyone was and I got frustrated of introducing myself to total non-Flyertalk strangers

I did catch Catman and while chexfan graciously was going to give me his seat since he couldn't attend, there was no room for my wife at the dinner.

So I left. However, it looked pretty neat and I heard Catman mention that he had a party of 79. Wow! That's a whole lotta Flyertalkers. Hope you guys had a great meal at Cite; personally I walked a couple of blocks away and had dinner at Famous Original Ray's pizza.

I'm sure a lot of interesting stories will come out of the meet; sorry I couldn't be part of it even though I was three blocks away Oh well, hope everyone had fun!

I just got back. What a blast. Food was excellent, company was great. The suprise guest (Mr. X) was in fact none other than Randy Peterson. The quote of the evening was when I asked Randy, "Where do you stay in NYC." His reply, "I sleep around"
Met a lot of great Flyertalkers, and look forward to seeing a lot of you later today at Brunch. I took a bunch of pictures, and they should be up online by Sunday night, or Monday at the latest.

P.S. cigarman, ask me what I did after the dinner.

cigarman:

With the crowd he was with, do you honestly believe he smoked a "fake" Cuban??

I sat next to markbach and can confirm he was good. Hmmm

MB knows more at his age than any of us did.

No...it was real. I have the pictures to prove it. And I didn't puke. Anna can vouch for that too.

First time I've been near a computer for nearly a week. At the Waldorf rate of 80c plus tax per MINUTE, or nearly $50 an hour, this will be pretty brief. Thanks to shareholder for an expert fast tour of The Metropolitan Art Gallery, and a great evening at Idlewild Friday, meeting many FT'ers in person for the first time, and cabbed a rather "tired and emotional" MrLimo back to Hilton about 2am!

GREAT van tour with Echelon .. many thanks from us both for a great local tour, and a perfectly selected lunch stop at Katz's Deli. and then walking onto the Staten Island Ferry bumped into Tom911 and Goldlust and Kempis yesterday morning.

A few quiet drinks in our suite at the Waldorf yesterday lunchtime before a planned trip to the Museum Of Natural History with Punki and Joe turned 6 hours later into dinner at Carnegie Deli with Punki along with Doc and wife and young son, and somehow 5 bottles of champagne and about a liter of Scotch joined the Waldorf party during the afternoon. Joe and Joh can relate their own version of events to protect the innocent. A few aching heads the next day is all I will say.

And thanks so much to Glen and Joh for being such truly fine hosts yesterday at their wonderful WA suite! Also, curiously, though I wasn't real hungry, I somehow managed to finish the entire pastrami sandwich!
