Jon, dont go man... If we all believe in FT, then we all have to find a way to work things out.

Jon, a great post. Like every one of yours I remember ever reading.

I think all of us have read a post by about every other flyertalker that rubbed us the wrong way [and 1,000's from some FT'ers](even some of mine I read later and regret the tone), this may be particularly true for those of us FT'ers who have not personaly met the other posters and dont know how to read/understand that person. But, I dont think Jon has ever had the impact on the vast majority of us [dare I speak for the majority, please dont take offense, I definitly mean myself and anyone who dares join me](or our multiple personalities - for those amongst us with them)... I remember many times reading the name Jon Toner and stopping to pay more attention to those words on the right. So, thank you for your contributions to this community, for you trully made it one in your acts and words.

I hope there will be a day in the not to distant future when I again see a post by Jon Toner.

I am new to this board, but would like to add my two cents (or 4 pf). The Old timers have given very valuable insight into the inner workings of the different airlines' programs. I have found this insight invaluable. If they leave then this board is is not what is has been the past, an extremely usefull source.

Wow..being on this board for some time now.. not as old as many.. but older than many newer users, I am sadened by this. I do not know when or how this bulletin board progressed into personal attacks and snipes. I do not know how many became drawn into using this for ego or bringing down others... enough of that.

There are alot of good users on here, and it is sad to see some of the very good users leave. There is no reason to get personally negative on here. But I have not been on here nor posting for the last few months. I do not know, but over the last few months, it lost the fun aspect that attracted me to it. The excitement of finding double shuttle miles, or this a United Bonus to Texas from LA... etc.

I guess we are all better than this.. and I hope the focus can be on the content and not attacking each other.

The members who are leaving, will be missed.. and I wish you good luck my friends.

I've been here a while and whilst planning to leave, have certainly stopped reading some peoples posts.

Last year when this all broke out I dropped Randy an email suggesting that perhaps he'd like to intervene with one person in particular. He obviously chose not to do that as that persons behaviour has not changed.

It is sad as this used to be full of helpful boards full of chances to earn more miles. (The point I think). Now it's almost impossible to find those offers and I tend to browse the airlines web sites instead.

Anyway there is one person to blame for this. I'll be formally putting a letter together this weekend to Randy. I've been a subscriber to his publication for many years but am really wondering if I should keep paying that subscription when no intervention here appears to be undertaken. One more email then we'll see!

Back from Africa and wading through the mud, the blood and the beer. Amazing what can happen in 10 days.

The board goes on with some unfortunate (and one not so unfortunate) casulaties along the way. Hopefully amends and healing can take place. There are still some really great people and useful information here amid all the skirmishes.

I would never question anyone for leaving. Always a personal decision and about how much personal energy this site may consume. Catman, Jon Toner and PremEx (maybe others, I don't know all who have quit yet) have been and continue to be class acts. I know they will do well and shine some light in other corners of the world. Good luck guys-- hope to see you back or in a brighter part of the universe.

But I can't go to an event and "make nice", and I would rather cut off an appendage than disrupt Catman's event.

I have tried to take a Voltairian stand (disagreeing with what some may say, but defending their right to say it), with a lot of this foolishness, but lately I've grown tired of it. It is painfully apparent to me that these battles are the price to be paid for using Flyertalk, and frankly I'm not willing to pay it anymore.

Oz. You exhibit sociopathic behavior. I seriously recommend you consider some kind of counseling. Every flame war exhibits the following pattern. It has become clockwork.

The spark
Someone posts something. Oz lights a match with a snotty remark, or takes offense and launches personal attacks.

My post count is larger than yours.
Oz begins his Dont you know who I am? campaign. He points out how a few of his posts have the highest number of replies, and challenges the others. He claims his posts are more important, helped more people, etc.

Who Dares Question the Great and Powerful Oz?
Oz berates anyone daring to question HIM. Personal attacks zestfully posted. He has met Randy. They are best buddies. In fact, he can personally vouch for Randys sexual orientation!

Do as I say, not as I do!
Start accusing others of the high crime of multiple identities. Note: Only a high crime when OTHERS do it not a high crime by Oz. The crusade to out imposters will never lack a standard bearer with Oz around.

The silence is deafening...
Oz points out the silence of others as proof he is right. Or he points out the silence of others as proof that the other person is wrong. Or he points out the silence as having some quasi-mystical power which makes him omnipotent King of FlyerTalk.

Dont trouble me with facts, Ive made up my mind.
Oz ignores points he cannot rebut, and widens the argument into new areas, especially by infecting other threads. Challenges others on meaningless (to the discussion) things like how much charity work they do.

Declare Victory and Retreat
Oz decides to declare victory, pompously pointing out he is going to take the high road and not responding any more ... but not before having the final word.

More farewell performances than Barbara Streisand
Despite the promise not to post any more on a thread, returns to throw a little more gasoline on the fire. Declares victory again. Repeats as often as necessary.

Who, me? What did I do?
He then shrugs his shoulders and wonders why everyone is getting so worked up on other infected threads. Asks Randy to close down the threads in the name of civility. Thank God for Oz, the voice of reason.

We dont need no stinking moderators
Oz becomes amazed and appalled when others begin to wonder publicly whether moderators might not be in order. Points out how Randy considers him the best FTer and wishes he had more like him. After all, he has met Randy. They are best buddies. In fact, he can personally vouch for Randys sexual orientation!

Cult of Personality
Come meet the great and powerful Oz. In person, hes oh-so-charming and witty. Of course so was Adolf Hitler. I hear Joseph Stalin was fun to drink with. And lets not forget Idi Amin what a card.

So long folks, it's been a lot of fun.

"I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own."
Since the ozstamps' "platform" is:
I am a great advocate for transparency and openness...
I am sure he won't mind a bit of his own history being transparent and open.

And I am positive the "mod squad" will understand that one must live with one's own history...

I don't think this thread should have been bumped. But given that it has, I'd like to ask the bumper whether he has posted to FT under a handle other than the one he's used here.
