Why I am leaving

I believe it is appropriate to turn this into a separate announcement, but the bulk of the reasoning is found here .

This is a very very sad state of affairs.

DroneLAX: I hope at least that you will lurk and if you are in my neck of the woods or I end up in yours that we can meet for a Sam Adams or a PEPSI.

I"m equally sorry to see you go as Jon Toner and all the others Flyers who have departed!

How sad As I said to Jon, please check back - you may find it harder than you think to stay way anyway This will work itself out over time - it has to.

All I know is I do fine by ingnoring jerks. By leaving you are giveing a jerk exactly what he wants. Recognition and attention. I suggest you do the opposite and stay.

Can you say "killfile"? Whatever this new software is that Randy is evaluating, it better have the ability to screen unwanted noise.

Sorry to see you go, as well. I hope to be able to welcome you back...

I have to agree with Vulcan - if you leave, Oz and his ilk win...

If we all leave, he'll have won, but a pyrrhic victory. I believe that the administration's failure to address the issue is largely to blame. I can't speak for others, but lurking is about the best I've been able to do for the last couple months.

I have a trip report or two to post. Can anyone recommend a place far far away from here where I can do so? E-mail me.

Thank you to the wonderful flyertalkers I have met: AnnaS, transpac, raffy, johna, dgolds, transworldone, onefreeman, raeban, carfield, gk, plus any whose name I forgot to mention.

I'll still try to be at Catman's Saturday do: it'll be my first large gathering, probably the last. I like steak; and the flyertalkers there whom I like will probably outnumber the ones I don't. Most of all, wharvey, jon toner, et al., I don't want to have people leaving the gentle Cat in the lurch.

Droneklax,It is sad to see the an internationally quoted FTer leave this board. I hope that your new celebrity does not result in forgotten FT roots. Bon Voyage.

In order to alleviate any implication that silence somehow equates to a lack of support, I hereby weigh in with my support for Droneklax.

Dont go. The boards will not be the same unless we all stay and contribute. Please reconsider.

To an outsider this would all seem an incredible amount of woe-is-me's. Why not simply ignore anyone you object to? To watch experienced knowledgable people say they will no longer continue to extend themselves and share their knowledge because of something or someone that can be ignored just seems strange to me in addition to being disappointing. I need all the help I can find.

These are such sad posts. These people who have upset you are truly without consequence in the grand scheme of things. I do hope that the rest of us know how to conduct ourselves and our mouths. Please give those of us who are newer round here a chance. I do know that some of the posts are extremely unpleasant, and some are I am sure, completely untrue. They are the ones that have the problem, not you. If there was one thing that I would love to ask people is that they engage their brains before posting, writing strident critisism of others people's views, and insisting on having the last word.
