As with others I just don't see the point in alias' on this serious discussion forum. I think many people from around the world use FT as a tool/resource to make their travel better. The fact that the people who use this forum are some of the most frequent travellers only makes it more important for them to be able to gain perspective from other's experiences. Therefore, I beleive that second handles, while sometimes amusing, are not productive for most FTers. All in all, in analzing this hot issue its my humble assertion that if we look at the real reason that we come to this board, then the need for second names should disapate. I hope that I have not offended anyone by this post, but i felt that I should offer my thoughts, limted as they are.

AFTER FlyerTalk cancelled the account of a Fake ID you now admit you had, and that you denied having at the time, and seeing they have now deleted every post and denial that ID made, so no-one can now see WHAT stupid and abusive posts you did make, (no-one including FT ever said they were "vulgar" which you conveniently now deny they were!) so you finally admit to it.

And the REASON given by you onmote than one Forum, to cleanse your soul for creating the fake ID??? Being "bombarded" with as far as I am aware three (3) emails from me, which most certainly did stop when you asked. Cigarman, your posts under your own name are not exactly ummm the shy retiring type. Let's put it this way, volunteering to be a FT board moderator on CO might not be a wise career decision for you. You'd have been getting 500 emails some weeks as Cigarman if that corny logic held any water. ( !! )

Hey I too admitted to have posted other than as ozstamps, and hopefully a few dozen more will join this thread doing the same, before it concludes, as there are clearly DOZENS of fake ID's still active, that have been used maliciously by regular FT'ers, that are certainly NOT me, nor Cigarman for that matter, to be fair to him. I unreservedly apologise Cigarman for the strain those three emails placed you under, and the un-necessary workload it caused for you to delete them.

Noble reasons Cigarman, I do admire your admission. Go read Doc's post above again might be prudent advice at this juncture. We still have no admission from the PfP Army (and there were MORE of them than Doc posted) who were stated to be QuietLion/Hunnybear. Neither has answered the question asked in three threads now. NOR has anyone else fessed up to be the PfP nutters, to be more pertinent, which would clearly mean Hunnybear/QuietLion need say nothing. A well respected flyer talker posted she was only "50% certain" of who the PfPs were, but she was nearly certain they were not QuietLion. Those with the $3.76 Wal-Mart Junior Detective kits might like to work on that one over the weekend. It is a pretty tough one.

It is Christmas, and I am getting on 32,000 miles of plane trips to sit on a tiny island in the Falklands populated only by 10 people (but many penguins and Elephant seals) and with no email access, so I do not really mind, and will be unable to respond anyway. I just really felt I needed to respond to Cigarmans' noble challenge where he quite rightly pointed out I have not posted on this thread. Thanks for that Cigarman.

The new IP logging will see fake IDs used far less, and more than likely, not at all in future by well known posters at least. Not by Cigarman I am sure, or Wonderland or the Pfps, or JaneJet or whomever else joins this thread later on. Yes it is a good thing. Yes, it is better and more transparent than the scenario BEFORE the IP logging. Isn't it?

And as to moderators, well newself may well get that job, so I'll leave others to work out how well he'd be able to police language use from others, for starters? Does he hang up his badge after a few drinks, or does he not? Or if Catman moderated this board would he delete newself's remarks and "profanity" above? C'mon who is kidding whom? Not his old best buddy/pal/cobber/mate. It simply will never work. This is the clear problem with moderators being appointed who personally know many posters. That is NOT the case with most moderated boards I have seen where no personal contact is usual among most posters.

cactuspete, thanks for the wonderful link from the bottom of this thread on another example of how Oz used one of his various aliases to mislead the FT community. In the thread you linked to(MolsonMiler (aka Yet Another Oz Alias) Makes Up Fairy Tale, Ozstamps is neither being attacked nor accused of anything. So, what does he do? He uses janejet and MolsonMiler to refresh the Oz-originated thread every so often so it's at the top of the list all the time. He couldn't add a smiley face. No, that would be too easy. Instead, he gives blatantly false information.

I hesitate to get into this in a BIG way...but here goes...

I appreciate all the miles thoughts contributed by Oztamps over the past several months. However....

The negativity that is permeating these boards at this point in INEXCUSABLE. I do NOT think that Ozstamps is COMPLETELY to blame...HOWEVER...when so much NEGATIVITY is spewed forth about and BY one person, it really does place a bad taste in the mouth.

As I stated, I appreciate all the helpful mileage posts here by all...BUT It's getting almost unpleasant to read this board. I have been reading this board for over a year and a half now, on an almost daily basis...and I just can't FATHOM how someone that should be taken seriously has enough time to post THOUSANDS of times in a few short months...
