I did not see YOU stand up and object (NOR any of the old timer clique) to those numerous nasty PfP posts to Doc and others, or from NewZealandCoins or the vicious NotSoNewHere or whatever. That then gave tacit approval and endorsement it seems to ALL other board users. Randy or staff I imagine are in the process of closing all of those total fake user names down. Great. It is a level playing field. You want to swear at me in future you need to add
your name to it. And I can choose to respond, or not. By email if I wish, but to a REAL person. And vice versa to you.
The new IP logging will see fake IDs used far less, and more than likely, not at all in future by well known posters at least. Not by Cigarman I am sure, or Wonderland or the Pfps, or JaneJet or whomever else joins this thread later on. Yes it is a good thing. Yes, it is better and more transparent than the scenario BEFORE the IP logging. Isn't it?
And as to moderators, well
newself may well get that job, so I'll leave others to work out how well he'd be able to police language use from others, for starters? Does he hang up his badge after a few drinks, or does he not? Or if Catman moderated this board would he delete newself's remarks and "profanity" above? C'mon who is kidding whom? Not his old best buddy/pal/cobber/mate.
It simply will never work. This is the clear problem with moderators being appointed who personally know many posters. That is NOT the case with most moderated boards I have seen where no personal contact is usual among most posters.
