LAX evening Sept 17 + LAS Sept 21

Left posting this pretty late on Sept 10, but who knows.

Anyone around LAX for evening Sunday Sept 17 like to catch up for a drink or dinner? Staying at Airport Westin LAX. We plan to get out to the Getty Museum during that afternoon.

Las Vegas evening of Thursday Sept 21 - probably at Luxor, if I ever get around to booking it.

And in between, in Southern Utah to drive around the parks .. who knows WHERE people read FT - anyone there please contact me! (Apologies BSL .. not going as far north as SLC this trip .. next time for sure - thanks for offer!)

Also, in case anyone is also on vacation in Mexico - will be in LOS CABOS September 22-25 as well, again not booked anything yet. Randy P. told me this week it is one of his favourite and most visited holiday spots, so got the inside scoop on what to see and do - sounds like a fun 4 days.

Please email me direct, or post here if anyone has some time free anywhere around these days.

Will do. ps .. please CYE about the Hilton free nights thread "width".

I'll go check the Freddie thread, and see if there is time for him to sit on the beach at Los Cabos after LAS. I can pass him on to someone possibly in LAX on the way home.

TOM911 is coming to Sydney early Oct, he advises me today and flying around the country, but we'll doubtless have a beer, so maybe that might build Freddie's miles up by 20,000, and get him back to States in time for Dusseldorf, so I'll ask NJDAvid to look into that too.

Thanks for email delacpa .. this Sunday evening in LAX is fine with us ... walking around the Getty will sure build the appetite. Mexican restaurant sounds fine. Thanks for ofering to collect us from Westin. Anyone else around Sunday please contact either of us.

Lasertag .. LAS on Thurs 21st is fine with us. Will check into Luxor (if I ever book a room!) late afternoon I guess, please please a message for Glen Stephens. Will see if this fits in with Freefaller's plans.

Freefaller12K has scheduled to give him to Kokonuts next week....

So get your pictures in while you can.....

ozstamps, I am keeping Thursday evening as open as possible. I will call the Luxor and leave my cell number. I am on the trade show floor until appx. 6:00pm, then should be freed up. I am at the Las Vegas Hilton that night (1000 AA miles + points) in case I should not call - call and leave message for S. Erik Guthrie.

Looking forward to meeting you.

Erik

Just a quick post to let you all know about the get-together last night: ozstamps and mrlimo and delacpa had a lovely dinner (not to mention margueritas!!) in Marina Del Rey
and arriving straight from Sydney, it was wonderful getting first-hand Olympics news.

A quick 'thanks' from Margaret and myself to delacpa and David for a great choice of location for the evening, transport, and the kind assistance with boxes and USPS!

Great catching up with Mr Limo there at Marina Del Rey as well ... appreciate you taking the time for the long drive from Fountain Valley. Let's know how the photos turned out! A really great evening. And thanks for e-mails just received from a couple of other FT'ers who were outta town on that night. And Freefaller12 .. whoops .. sorry that email address on your profile is only checked sparsely .. shame we missed each other - we could have treated Freddie Jnr to the Pharoah's Pheast at Luxor. (Hey I didn't name the place!)

Lasertag .. again just back and saw this message today. Sorry, Luxor did not leave any messageing so assumed you'd got caught up with the Las Vegas Convention - apologies - with 4,400 rooms these things happen. We did not arrive from Utah til about 6.30 pm, and toting bags from guest car park to check-in reception is truly an Olympic Marathon Gold Medal event - no-one mentioned that! Must be a mile thru the heart of the casino. THREE of about 20 check in stations open and 40-50 guests in line - took easily 45 mins.

I was so heated about it they comped us to a large Jaccuzzi two room suite to make up. Darn shame, especially on a great $75 rate, as we needed to check out to fly to Mexico via LAX, at 4.30 am. Oh Well - always next time to ENJOY it for a full day.

The good news is that weather in Sydney now (Wednesday afternoon) is lovely again for those who will see this in 20 hours/weeks time when the NBC "live" Olympic coverage catches up again! What a disgrace that coverage is .. but that's for another thread - this one:

Welcome Home, ozstamps!! Glad to hear all went well for you & Margaret on the rest of your journey. Although a small gathering, we certainly did enjoy meeting FTers from down under!!
