I frequent this site WaaAAaaY too much. But, alas, I will be deprived of my daily FT fix for at least 2 (maybe even 3) days starting in a few hours. May not sound like a long to some of you, but I've been known to tap into my favorite websites in towns along the trans-siberian railroad as far back in internet time as three years ago, so you know that part of me will be going through serious withdrawal this weekend.

I'm heading off to where the sun always shines and where my mobile phone will be out of range. (I guess if I had one of those clunky Iridium phones, I could stay in touch if the stars and moon are aligned, but I'm too cheap (or is smart a better word) to buy one of those foolish toys.)

Anyway, as a frequent observer and only casual poster, I have seen the great, the bad, and the ugly on this site, especially in the past two months.

However, in the past day or two, I think I've witnessed the beginning of a renaissance on this board, with old-timers coming back and making their contributions, new members getting on target with smart questions and the community responding with helpful answers, less SPAM, and almost no flaming. My default is on "show topics from last 5 days", so if I can hold out for 3 days instead of 2, I am hoping that by the time I return all the nastiness of the recent past will be washed away, and this site will have its old look and feel back.

Here's hoping anyway...
