High fare to MEM

Hello, as I surf around the internet to find lowfares for my wife from IAH-MEM, I found out that the cheapest fare for 8/12/00 is $501 both for CO and NW. This is incrediable for who is going to MEM anyway? Why so expensive and to make things more interesting, I went to AMX website and found out that their ITIN is actually 20 some dollars cheaper than these so called Discount Travel website.
Why is this? Can someone enlighten me please?

Rarely has memphis been competitive in the past. Therefore, the solution for most has been to fly into Little Rock and then drive the 137 miles to MEM. (Lowest IAH-LIT RT is $168).

But, why is UR fare so high...maybe U have no Sat. nite stay? Details, details ie return date...not posted above.

I tried to fly her here on 8/12/00 and return to IAH at 8/18/00, so yes Saturday nite stay is intact. I guess that no one ever comes to MEM.

She can fly AirTran HOU-MEM for $274 based on your days of travel. If you didn't miss on the 14-day advance, IAH-MEM would cost $223 on NW.

Since MEM is a NW hub and since they have been pushing the added flights with triple miles for a couple of months, I guess the end result is that their promotion has paid off and the traffic is peaking.

I find that it is often just a case of which time of day you fly. Did you try tweaking the search for lowest fare/flexible travel?
