I'm sorry folks. I have had off-line conversations about this with a number of you, but you probably couldn't "hear" those, could you?
Anyway this seemed like a good idea at the time and it is, but I am just swamped right now and things don't look good through July with travel and projects. I haven't even had the time to think about it really. I would still like to do it as I think it's a great idea. As AusTHiker and I discussed perhaps if the job were broken into components (information gathering, mapping, web page design, etc.) I could do some parts of it. I am just too exhausted (and yes, stressed) right now to come up with a project plan. If someone would like to tackle that, I'm sure I could do the mapping component.
This distresses me as I was excited about this and would love to do it. Also, I am not the type to bring up and volunteer something and then drop it, but in this case the voice of reason says I can't do it all at this time.

Now, TravelWeary, don't be distressed. You brought this up 3 months ago and a lot can (and did) happen in those 3 months. At least you planted the seed, and doc watered it by bringing this subject forward again.
I'm in favor of this map, which will get done eventually.

TravelWeary,
I will volunteer to be the collector of data. I could put together a spreadsheet or maybe a database of usernames, email addresses, airport locators, etc.
From the data that we gather, we could send out mass emails (friendly spam?) to the group regarding FT get togethers, important messages, etc.

We actually are looking at how to structure this and I was in San Francisco last week to sign a contract with a company to provide "home pages" for the FT community and part of that was the ebility to "locate" geography of members. We are hoping to launch that on June 1, so stay tuned......

The map's an excellent idea, and I would love to know if there are any other FTs based in Tokyo... Put me down for NRT, and tell BostonBoy to let me know when he (or others) are flying in next! -KP
