Catman, don't go, do like a real cat & ignore the people who irritate you, they'll go away......

ozstamps,

Having a 'real' email address sounds good. I myself have many different email accounts, some free & others that I pay for. Every 'free' email service that I have signed up for, Yahoo, Excite, hotmail, beer.com etc require that you have a valid email address to notify you of important things. I suppose somebody could spoof an email address. Now as to the reason I have so many accounts, some are for [email protected], the rest are so that my 'real' email accounts don't get bombarded with SPAM. I agrre that all users should provide their email accounts, but don't agree that they can't be from Yahoo etc...

Catman, please don't do this!

You are so far above the trash that has gone on here lately; please reconsider.

I've said this a few times here before, but feel it needs to be said again as a reminder to everyone.

Trolls need 'food' to exist. If they are ignored, they get no 'food' and wither & die. Consider the source...

I know you're especially sensitive about the clique comment, and remember when & where it started. But, you should also know that those of us who know you, know better. There is NO ONE who tries harder than you to be PC and not hurt anyone's feelings. I know that personally....

These are small-minded, childish, asinine comments made to get a reaction. If you go now, they win....

Please don't let them win! The rest of us want & need you to stay here to keep this forum the special place that it is.

Catman, due to the extreme importance of this forum topic, I have escaped for a few fleeting moments from self-imposed exile to plead this case. Simply stated, this board needs you, wants you and commands your continued presence! Your expertise, finesse, and diplomacy in addition to your kindness, wit and unique personality are unsurpassed.

You are a guiding light, a beacon and an anchor on this board. A Gato Extraordinaire!!! You have unselfishly given us so many command performances. You deserve a Star (paw prints and all) on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame as well as an Emmy, an Oscar, a Grammy and an Omni Award!!! You are Top Shelf and Top Cat!!! You are the Cat's Meow!

Stay the course or flight plan, as it were. No Sheriff of Boone County, Mayberry RFD or Sheriff John could keep us on course better than you! Continue to soar with the eagles with the quality, charm and unique perspective that only you possess. You have guided us into this new millenium and as you can see from the overwhelming mandate of these posts, your continued participation is respectfully requested.

You have enriched our lives and have so many times brought a breath of fresh air and enjoyment with the elegant and stately strokes of your paw prints . This world and FlyerTalk are a better place, thanks to you! We're all looking forward to your staying on board.

Catman is the very SOUL of FlyerTalk. Without him, we're just a bunch of posters on a message board. He's made this board mean so much more than just hotel and flight mileage tips. He's given it a face, a personality and a heart. No Tinman or cowardly Lion, the Cat deserves better, and I among many, implore him to change his mind and come back.

Catman,

I agree with others above that your posts are useful and informing. I could see new users getting thrown off by the Commander Catcop thing...as even I did.

I will notice your absence ...BUT I am disappointed you are giving in to the few people who try and wreck things for others.

Sincerely,

Dorian

p.s. I disagree with the REAL email address idea...I really don't want some of the weirdos on this board and the Internet in general to have any way to find me.

If you don't come back, I'm calling my friend at the Eyewitness News assignment desk. We'll stick you right in between "New Hope for Herpes Cure" and "Long Island Teens Beat Jell-O Record".

Catman, I pretty much echo everyone elses sentiments on this issue, but in particular, Shadows. By leaving this board for however long you choose to go on hiatus, you are essentially validating the minority of people that have facilitated your reason for leaving. If I were to take personal everything that someone said to me in my day-to-day life, I would be miserable and would never see the light of day. I think that you need to take into account the source and then decide how much credence or weight you wish to put on their opinions.
To me, this appears to be a transition period for FlyerTalk. This board is going through some growing pains, but in the end, this community will be better off for it. It would be a shame if you were not here to share it with the rest of us who are dedicated to making this the pre-eminent forum for travel-related matters. After all, you are a large part of the reason for its initial success. You bring a great deal of credibility to the boards; which I think by the time this thread is finished, you will begin to see.
As you can read, you are greatly missed. I (as do others) patiently await your re-emergence

Catman,

MRLIMO took the words right out of my mouth.

In my mind, You are FT and FT is you.

Please do not let the Trolls win. This community has far too many outstanding people and ideas to be destroyed my a few trolls.
