The Post Dinner DO:
Live From Punki and Capt. Joe's place it's the POST DINNER DO REPORT:
I decided to take an extra day in NYC and host a private get together with Flyertalkers still left in town (I didn't want the wonderful weekend to end.) SO Punki and Joe, PremEx and Cheri, Onefreeman and Raeban and Dgolds joined me at another of my favorite restaurants, the West Bank Cafe, where the FIRST CATMAN DO was held. in October, '99.
A great time had by all, lots of good food and laughs and I got to spend some time with some of my closest and most special Flyertalk friends. It was the icing on the Krispy Kreame Donut of the most special weekend of my life.
Thank you all for taking the time to spend a few more hours with me. It's now back to reality as Christine and I head to LONDON MOnday night for work (for me) and fun (for her and me) and then Dublin (third time for her, first for me.)
SO have fun all and block off some time next SPRING for the CATMAN DO TROIS!!!!

OH CRAP! Someone had a camera in Catman's suite friday night??!?!?!!?! I thought those flashes of light were angels sent to sanctify me
Sunday: Work started at 7am at the Heathrow Hilton and was done by 10:30 in plenty of time to make the 6 minute walk back to terminal 4 and by 11:30am I was past the 1k desk (where the agent almost forgot to take my systemwide upgrade certsomehow they never totally forget for me
). RCC phone drove me nuts trying to make a call, til I noticed the BT phones in the cubicles across from mine, which made my life so much easier.
Onto the 777 that was UA919. One of the old-old ones. Old seats, no laptop power, no map, no noise reducers. You know youre in trouble when you measure the cabin by the things that are NOT there. UA should be ashamed to use these planes on international routes! Then to top things off, they showed the USA to Europe movies again rather than the Europe to USA. Which I really wouldnt have even noticed, except that I really wanted to see Galaxy Quest
. I am in the aisle seat in the middle section (9D). The fella in the center seat at one point opened his tray compartment in his armrest and SPLASH, Cabernet all over my lap. Now, I have done this to my seat-mates twice before and it is terribly embarrassing for the spiller, so I did my best to waive it off. I took a clean pair of trousers out of my carryon and changed in the bathroom and got on with life. He was apologetic all the way to IAD and even on the people movers over to customs, thanking me for being a sport. I just glad I wasnt wearing one of my Armanis
.
Was asked to take a survey about the food on the flight, and while I had the chicken, I took the opportunity to mention that whenever I order beef or lamb in business class, it is always too dry/tough to cut with the dinner knife provided.
Fine quick trip, but all in all, I think I would rather have been at the NYC Ruths Chris

Ken, do not worry that you and Danielle could not make the Second do. There's always the third next spring.
But we toasted you and all the absent Flyertalkers so in a way you were there!!
OMNI to KOKONUTZ: You did have angels in the room to santify you. Their names were: Minolta, Canon and Kodak!!!
Well gotta get ready for LONDON. Keep the boards clean Mr. Lion and Hunnybear!!!

I hope everyone realizes just how much effort Catman put into the CATMAN-DO-2. In order to plan an event for 40 some odd people and have the event come off quite smoothly, requires a lot of time and effort.
And I cannot say enough about Catmans GENEROUSITY! I would not have believed how generous he is unless I had seen it first hand. We as a community are lucky to have a friend like Catman.
Thanks again for a great time!

What do you mean I am fired? The HORROR!
Catbuddy, you can't buy me enough beer to make up for this! I will just have to take my paper ACTING CMDR CATCOP Badge and move on elsewhere.

Hi, everyone...I just wanted to let you know that I arrived safely in Bogota earlier this evening. Good news, the hotel has Internet access, so I will be on-line. That makes it feel not quite so far away from home.

More to come...

CHerri-meow from London where I"m on break between meetings.
Dgolds: glad you have made it safely to Bogoto and I wish you HAPPY & SAFE Travelings. Do post a trip report when you can.
MY LONDON trip report (which turned out to be somewhat interesting) will come later tonight, London time. Have to work sometime.
Newself: after a very stern lecture from Christine about the value of friendship, I have decided to resind my firing of you and will resinstate you as the most SENIOR ACTING CMDR CATCOP. As Christine wisely pointed out, no filter or Catcop is purrfect (and she cited a few examples of my GOOFS.)
And she adds to make it up to you I should take you to the best Steakhouse in Long Beach, buy you whatever you want on the menu, give you 8 yards of beer and all the Krispy Kreame donuts you can eat.
SO SOORRRRYYY Newself (oh, sorry shadow too!)
Put your paper badge on and be ready for your next assignmetn.
WIll you forgive me buddy, pal, chum, beerdude newself???

CameraGuy is so right. Catman outdid himself in putting this fabulous weekend together.
All of us who joined in the fun are deeply in his debt for a truly memorable time.
Four Paws Up, Hip Hip Hurray for a job well done by the most kind-hearted, loving, and generous Catman.

In relation to the issue raised by Catmann above:
"Promise that next year for the CATMAN DO IN NYC, 2001 that the dinner will be PRE PAID and that we ALL do it in warmer weather (May I propose April or May, 2001?) It will happen, hopefully with all of you and more friends.
I love all of you!"
How's this for a possible solution?

Everyone can get miles as well! Just my 0.02!
