It will be great to have some good Malbec, served properly of course, as everything here in China comes out tasting like Great Wall red.
OT, but you need to find Great Wall cabernet sauvignon with a vintage on the label. Better yet, look for Grace Vineyards (started and run by foreigners who seem to know and appreciate wine) wines; they're the house wine for one of the French chains in China, IIRC Sofitel. It's decent when served in appropriate glasses.

For those of you considering the trip, AM is having a "steal" of a J fare - in full refundable J it is under $1600 from many gateways, and in the discounted J fare buckets (C/D/I) it is about $1300+.

AM is a Skyteam member and AS partner. I've yet to fly them to EZE so I cannot comment on the service, but most flights MEX/EZE are on a 787. The only caveat I give is that MEX transit is like transiting the USA, i.e., full immigration/customs/baggage re-drop, etc. The MEX AM lounge is decent enough. Most of the flights to/from MEX/USA are on 737s.

Advice please, our flight back from EZE is at 9 PM. The best return flight from Iguazu falls arrives in AEP at 5:55 PM, say it takes an hour from AEP to EZE that puts us in EZE at 7 PM, two hours before our flight back to the US (United). I worry that we will not be able to check in only for the flight (its a one-way award + international). So I have to assume that we will need to check-in at the airport.

Do you think its cutting it too close to arrive at EZE two hours prior to our flight?

Thanks, that's good advice but I'm trying to do this on points and the only flight available is 6:30 to 8:30 which will not work.

Economy award, no status. Inbound from AEP would be OneWorld award no status.

Carryon only if it helps.

Yes, the fact that you do not have to check bags does help. I assume you have US passports so I understand that you should also be able to check-in online and once you are at EZE, go to one of the self-service kiosks and get your boarding passes. Not 100% sure about UA but I know AA has those at EZE.

Bottom line, if your flight to AEP is on time, then arriving at EZE 2 hours before your flight with no checked baggage should be plenty of time for you to catch your flight.

Perhaps other regular UA flyers out of EZE care to chime in...??

Thank you for the feedback. I think we will risk it. We don't want to stay extra, but if something happened and we did need to stay any extra day we could deal with that.

I travel out of EZE on UA quite often. I would not risk 2 hours at EZE. The desk in the main lobby opens at 4 hours before flight time (and.. no kiosk is available) First (with or without checked luggage) you are screened by the "contract" security people. Then to an agent whom will check you in (even if you check in online) you will not receive a boarding pass online. So this check in is a must. Then up the escalator to EZE Security then EZE Customs. The place is normally madhouse at all points. Two hours would be a minimum for the process and allot of stress. Top it off with the OP's non elite status (and on an award ticket)I think they should try to find an other connection that takes theminto EZE at an earlier time. Safe Travvels

Firstly see my post replying to Gaucho100K regarding the check in process. A Non Elite traveling on an Award ticket is subject to certain Fare Buckets. If you check in late at the airport be prepared for a possibility of staying the night at your own expense, then Standy By the next as your Fare Bucket may not be able to be confirmed (due to an Award ticket) UA normally Bumps Paying Passengers (where you can get protected on anbother airline) With an Award you are at the mercy of UA Inventory Management.. Im an agressive flier too and wouldnt risk your itineary. Let us know what you end up deciding. Safe Travels.. P.S. you say you arrive at AEP at 5:55pm .. and we are basing our opinions on a 7:00 pm EZE Arrival..Gosh with the traffic at that time I truly doubt that you could make it to EZE in 1 hour as well.. Sorry for sounding so negative, I would not do it. Think traffic on the Beltway

Urgh, I hate this kind of airport!

Any special treatment for a revenue J passenger?

Thanks that is the feedback I need to hear. I'll look at our options. Since Monday morning is committed to dialysis we need time on Tuesday to do the falls. We might need to save the falls for another trip.

Actually, while the airport is (also) to blame, its the fault of UA for being so cheap and having no kiosks. AA has them. Also, if UA wanted to it could have more staff and make things easier.....

I've been travelling to/from EZE 6+ times/yr on UA since 2002 ...

I leave my apartment 3 hrs before flight time and most often will arrive at the airport in 50 min (fastest), to 100 min (stop-and-go traffic). I have 1K status on UA so it takes me at most 10 minutes to get through the initial security screen and check-in. Check-in usually opens 3-3.5 hrs before departure time. There will be many non-status passengers who will arrive and queue before check-in opens.

The WTMD/immigration lines are usually short before 19:30, but will quickly get much longer starting around 20:00.

If your are checked in and stuck waiting for immigration, an agent will usually come and try and find you and escort you to the front of the line.

Things can be much more hectic during Argentine vacation times, when parents with young children will skip to the font of the line and families with minor children will take much longer to process at immigration.
