You can get a free ride using my link for Uber or Lyft. Heck, sign up for both and get a free ride with each of them.
Paging CDKing.

I am going to have to bail on this event. I just can't afford it this year.

Reminder
I know some folks don't follow the thread, so just in case...
Pick up location: Write it down
234 East 46 street. It's the same location as previous tours. This is between Second and Third Avenue on the east side. It's just down the block from Sparks Steakhouse.
Arrive 9:30 - 9:45. Doors close at 10:00. Departure immediately following.
I'll be PM'ing you my cell phone number prior to the tour. Rest assured that I will not be calling you if you're late. If you are running late, call me I'll give you directions to our first stop. Its happened before, and it will happen again. I did leave Catman, one of my oldest dearest FT friends behind.
On second thought, If you want my cell number, PM me.
The plan this year will be different than previous BRT's. The first stop will be lunch at http://www.smorgasburg.com/ It will be a 90 minute stop vs 45 minutes from last year. Smorgasburg opens at 11:00 am. If you're running late, take the L train (runs on 14th Street in Manhattan) to the first stop in Brooklyn (Bedford Ave). Then, just ask a hipster to point you in the right direction. You'll enjoy nice views of midtown east and the UN.
The last stop will be the Promenade, overlooking the lower Manhattan skyline. It looks great all lit up at night; but since we'll be there between 8:30 and 9:15, we won't see it in all it's glory. If anyone wants to stay a little longer, it's a short ride back to Manhattan on the subway. I'm not sure how the annual bar stop on Bedford Ave will fit in.
There are seats available.

And again this year, on the very same day as the Brooklyn Reality Tour, the following event will be occurring in Brooklyn at Kings County Saloon (a well-known dive bar):

(Warning: probably NSFW, depending of course on where you work.)

One World Center, Open-Top Bus Tour Options
The One World Observatory opens on May 29, and tickets are on sale now.
I'm ticketed for 10:30 AM on Friday, June 12...the day before BRT. Is anyone else interested in going then? This does not conflict with the SoupDO.
On Sunday, the day after BRT, I'm planning to take the NYC "Night Tour" by Open Loop. It's a 2-hour tour by open-top bus. Anyone else interested in this alternative to the WineDO?
The newly completed observatory on top of One World Trade, the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, offers three floors of panoramic views from more than 1,250 feet. On a clear day, you can see for 50 miles.

Manhattan HOHO Bus Tours Again on Sale at Amazon Local
There is a new Amazon Local discount (like Groupon) on Open Loop bus tours:
http://local.amazon.com/brooklyn/B00XALPYUM
Just $15 for the 2-hour night tour of Manhattan, which should nicely complement the daytime BRT.

After so many years of BRT, I figure that I have to enhance the tour every so often. Let's face it, regular riders need a little spice, and hanging with me doesn't cut it.
Several years ago, the cool - hip - trendy Williamsburgh neighborhood was added. This has been a successful stop. This year, we're going to stop at Greenwood Cemetery. http://www.green-wood.com/ The cemetery is the highest spot in Brooklyn, offering spectacular view of the Narrows, NY Harbor, and lower Manhattan.
560,000 permanent residents, including Leonard Bernstein, Boss Tweed, Charles Ebbets, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Louis Comfort Tiffany, Horace Greeley, Civil War generals, baseball legends, politicians, artists, entertainers and inventors are buried here. The rich moved from Park Ave to the 'rural' part of Brooklyn over 175 years ago.
On September 27, 2006, Green-Wood was designated a National Historic Landmark by the United States Department of the Interior, which recognized its national significance in art, architecture, landscaping and history.
More here http://www.green-wood.com/about-history/
The current plan is to stop here after we eat, just don't ask me which eating stop that will be.
Please PM me for my cell phone number in case you run late. The doors close at 10:00, with pushback a few minutes later.
There are still seats available.
