Bumping my own thread:

I'm sitting in the hall today minding my own business and my Flyertalker Professor came up to me. I'm thinking "uh oh what am I in trouble for now?"

Instead he says: I can ask you this, is the Mileage Run dead?

My kind of pre-class talk!

I picked up United Captain Denny Flanagan for this event at his hotel in SF this past Sunday and two F/t'ers in the lobby spotted his F/t polo shirt (they were in town for the a Oracle event and already had dinner plans or we would have had two more for dinner)

Hopefully you told him about elite status at AA, where mileage runs still work.

Or if you ever bump into a moderator, they usually have a few extra. I try to keep a couple in my backpack.

I certainly did. He wanted to talk Delta more though as he's also got the miles for Delta Gold but is short $1,000 on spend. I said if he really wanted it, fly to Europe in December for a grand. I'd take a weekend in Europe and the biggest bump in status you can get for a thousand dollars.

So the most important question, who has the higher status on the plane, at the hotel?

He's got me on airline status, he's lifetime Gold with AA and has spousal 1K. I may have him at Hilton because he's a Marriott guy.

He's also a damn decent professor and I don't just say that in case he's reading, guy's got a PhD from Penn and he's at my little unknown HBCU. Not sure how that happened but I'm glad it did ^

Any moderators at SNA or IAH or IST or BOM on Nov 12/13 or at BOM or NRT or LAX on Jan 1/2?

Moderators live in most of those places.

Last Wednesday I was flying out of PHX, and spotted a guy with a FT bag tag on the moving walkway just ahead of me. I introduced myself, and he seemed rather surprised.

Turns out he's mostly a DL flyer and I think Hyatt for hotels, so we've never bumped into each other on FT.

He was trying to get to CVG, and I told him how I've flown PHX-CVG-AVP, but it was some time ago. Unfortunately, there are no longer nonstops PHX-CVG
