Yep. Aaages ago, as a graduation present to myself.

CHC-BNE-SIN-BKK-CPH-BGO-(CPH)-EWR-MEX-HAV-MEX-GDL-TIJ; SAN-LAX-HNL-AKL

In 2003 on a Star Alliance RTW ticket.

My 'regular' return tickets were RTW as well sometimes, but I'm not counting them.

Highlights were BKK, SAN, MEX and everything in Cuba. TIJ was only a transit point to cross the border to SAN, back when Mexicana belonged to Star Alliance :-D

I flew one last year when I had a feeling the ex-CMB cheap one-ways were on their way out, figuring it was one of my few opportunities to try out Emirates First, and get a nice premium cabin "mileage run" out of the Memorial day long weekend lol. Went with a friend.

http://www.gcmap.com/mapui?P=SFO-HKG...OH-DXB-LHR-SFO

SFO-HKG-SIN on CX F, CX J (67,500 AA + $2.50)
=Spent 2 days=
SIN-CMB on SQ Y (a few LifeMiles)
CMB-DOH on QR J
DOH-DXB on QR J ("F" since it was domestic-ish)
=Spent 1 day=
DXB-LHR on EK F (EK7 as QF8007)
LHR-SFO on BA F (~$1600 ex-CMB paid F tix)

Amount Spent: ~$1600 + 67,500mi
Miles Earned: 19644RDM (and 13181-EQM)
Total Outlay: ~$1600 + 47,856mi

Visited the newly renovated (at the time) Wing and the Pier lounges at HKG, SilverKris Business lounge at SIN (meh), the Premium Terminal at DOH with a Jacuzzi, the First Class Lounge at Dubai (my lord, what a lounge) and the Concord Room at LHR.

I'm in the middle of a second one right now, actually, leaving to come home tomorrow. Colombo's been good to me

http://www.gcmap.com/mapui?P=SFO-HKG...UH-CDG-DFW-SFO

SFO-HKG-KUL on CX F, CX J (67,500 - 10% cardholder discount = 60,750 AA + $2.50)
KUL-MAA on AirAsia AK Y (exit row, pre-paid Nasi Lemak, all in less than $100)
=Spend 1 week=
MAA-CMB on Sri Lankan UL Y (bulkhead, 4500BA + $18)
=Spend 1 week=
CMB-AUH on UL J
AUH-CDG on EY F
CDG-DFW on AA J ($700 1/2 of the EY jumbo sale)
DFW-SFO on AA Y ($237 for a paid AA Y tix)

Amount Spent: $1039.50 + 60,750mi
Miles Earned: 18,888RDM (and 10,210EQM)
Total Outlay: $1039.50 + 41,862mi

Visited the Wing again on the way in, looking forward to visiting the Etihad First lounge at AUH tomorrow.

Got in on the EY jumbo sale, figured I'd make a trip out of it Third one planned for later this year.

I did a few in my life, and usually in F or J class or a combination of both.

I did one with my partner to celebrate New Year 2000 and the itinerary was
CDG-SIN-PER-MEL-SYD-AKL-EZE-IGU-RIO-MIA-CDG on Oneworld in J and F
We celebrated New Years eve in Sydney with a splash

The most memorable RTW was the one I did in October 1993 on the Concorde
It was an Air France aircraft specially chartered for the trip.
It was an amazing experience since the aircraft visited places it had never flown before and attracted thousands of people to the airport to have a glimpse at it.
The plane was like our motorcoach, we could leave some personal items on board between flights and so on. the crew was the same for the 18 days trip.
The itinerary was : CDG-IAD-LAS-SFO (refueling stop only) HNL-PPT-NOU (refueling stop) SYD-DPS-CMB-MCT-CAI-CDG

A lifetime experience!

The only RTW I did was in 2007 over the course of 4 months. Mostly on one ticket (Qantas issued but every single flight a codeshare) but split up into a few segments as I did a few overland trips.

My route was

LHR - BKK (BA)
SIN - CNS (JQ)
MEL - CHC (JQ)
AKL - NAN - LAX (FJ)
LAX - SFO (AA - add on single)
LAX - JFK (AA)
JFK - LHR (BA)

This was the first trip I started collecting miles, I haven't looked back since!

I've thought about doing another RTW again as I make regular trips to Australia but unfortunately haven't had the time to make if work yet.

As e-ticketing is pretty much mandatory, the maximum segments now is 16 (somehow when the e-ticketing system was conceived - they did not expect that a fare would require more than 16 segments or 4 conjunction tickets). So - here is what I managed in 2007 on a LH-paper ticket. It took over 90 mins to do the manual tax calculation by a very patient agent at the LH YVR ticket desk. All in Business - total fare was approx. 5400 EUR.

CDG-FRA-CAI-SIN-MEL (open) SYD-AKL-KKE (open) AKL-NAN-LAX-SFO-YVR-YYC-EWR (Open) LGA-YHZ-LHR-FRA-CDG

Total time - 12 months. 7 weeks from CDG-YVR and then 10 months in YVR - followed by 2 weeks from YVR-LHR. Last 2 coupons disposed - were only required for fare to price.

I've done a number of them, but the first one was in 1973.

As I recall, the routing was MLI-ORD-NYC(JFK, I think)-FRA-BEY-DEL-BKK-HKG-SEL(Kimpo)-TYO(Haneda)-ANC-SEA-ORD-MLI. It was leisurely, took four months all in, stopping off for sight-seeing, visits, meetings, and tours.

Long before Frequent Flyer accounts, so no "mileage" figures, and long before airline alliances so lots of carriers, but portions were on the RTW route Pan Am flew in those days.

Many times,in all classes! This used to be nice when you could buy a Star C RTW ex BKK for something like 4000 euro, with 27 segments/39.00 miles. Nowadays I realy cannot understand why anybody would buy them, except for traveling round the world in a single trip.

The last one,in C,I did in about a week, bcs the coupons were getting to their use by date and I had only used the BKK-IST and some European short hops before.IST-FRA-EZE-EWR-NRT-HKK-BKK,and a separat flight to IST,I think! I got frantic calls from my Turkish bank abouth my CC being used "all over Asia over abouth 3 days".
