Post what you are bringing & others can fill in even more.

Beck usually brings some tasty stuff from Costco.

As an idea for the food... we have a wiki on top- can edit that so we know who is bringing what.

Just a bit of advice for newcomers to the Wall o' Wine from one who has been there quite a few times and is now even more seriously unhappy about missing this party.

Ok, I'll make some mashed potatoes if you've got a large pot I can borrow.

We'll save some wine for your visit next month

Ooo I do like some Tator's. And there should be a decent size pot for use.

Excellent. Did you make it to the Alaskan Brewing Company in JNU? Great samples there. I'd take the bus or a taxi as you may not want to drive after.

P.S. I'm likin' this wiki thing

Make it local beer. Heck, if you are around Saturday afternoon, The Midnight Sun Brewing Company is less than a mile from my house with several to choose from. Definitely worth a visit.

Great Alaska Brewing Company? I had no idea and will have to go next time I'm there. Or are you thinking of Midnight Sun? (They have good food, too.)

If I'm coming from downtown on foot, where would you recommend for to-go beer/wine and a gourmet side or dessert?

You'll want a cab or a ride to Bob's from downtown. It's a good 7 miles or so.

You could take PeopleMover bus routes 1 or 2 down Lake Otis to 80th, but with bus service at best every hour and taking almost an hour to do what would be a 15-20-minute drive, that's not a terribly useful method of traveling around ANC.

The People Mover bus system can get you around fairly well and there is a stop at Lake Otis & 80th, a half mile from my house. Both Carr's Quality Centers & Fred Meyer are less than a mile from here and the busses go by both, but I don't know their schedule.

And if you're looking at cabbing it, it's probably $25 each way to and from downtown and/or the airport. If you're already going to be downtown, I can get $41 for a compact car from an off-airport location for the day of 6/8), and if you want to rent at the airport, it's a little over $50--both competitive with the cost of cabs.
