I'm getting married...

Thanks to REF 74 I can now marry my partner of 21 years. When we called our local county newspaper to ask about their policy on same-sex engagement notices they said " no one has ever asked before...send your information in". We did but a reporter took it one step further and called for a short interview saying they would like to do a story. It became the top story in this week's edition (slow news week?)

I thought it was kind of cool and progressive of them.

Congrats on your impending nuptials, david! Who cares if it was a slow news week? I think we'd all like to see more coverage of happy events and what could be happier than happy couples tying the knot? :)

May you never need that other right you just got, divorce. :D

But seriously, this is a great event in American history, and you should be proud to be participating in it.

I never attend weddings, I can't stand seeing the groom settle for second best. :p

Congratulations! I married my partner of 21 years at San Francisco city hall. I'm still waiting for it to become fully legal in California. ^

It saddens me to think that some people would ever dream to block happy things like this.

Congrats to both of you - such a heartwarming story!

Yoshi212 Nov 17, 2012 5:30 pm

My mother has been a long time "hag/fruit fly/other term for a lover of gays" and this past October she officiated the marriage of two of our friends that have been together exactly how long my parents have been married. It was a small but fun wedding. Good luck and more power to you.
My life wouldn't be the same without all the gay "uncles" my brother and I had growing up so don't let anyone tell you it's any less meaningful.

This gives new meaning to the bible quote:

Leviticus 20:13 – “if a man lays with another man, as with a woman, he should be stoned.”

Amen.
