Do you think I can get a student discount for my Canadian Student ID? =]
or maybe my American university ID can still work....
either way it's cheaper than I thought. I think i'll just go to South Station and walk it. 28$-31$ depending if I can use my ID. Sounds good.

Edit: Seems a same-day round-trip is only 24$. =D

Just for the record, and for people who consider yourselves prospects, but you don't know if it's your kind of party: It is. This is just silliness here. Where the "drinking from a fire hydrant" analogy does apply is to what you're apt to learn from others. Bring a pocket notepad. Seriously. @:-)

And no, not hinting at Karaoke, which I don't do before 11:00 and six beers if

I'm for sure. Not 100% on when I'll be leaving though. Looking forward to it!

Hello Everyone!
I would like to attend on the Do on Monday, but I have never been to a Do before. Is there anything I should know before coming or just show up?

Short version: Welcome! Just show up.

Long version:

1) The Boston group does not get together as often as it should. I hope to change it to at least quarterly.

2) Some will drink, some will eat, some will do neither, some will do both. Just plan on enjoying yourself.

3) Firewind is one of the nicest human beings on the planet.

4) Actually, the entire Boston group is nice. There are no egos among the people that I have met so far. In fact, most of us are a little on the silly side.

5) As Firewind (one of the nicest human beings on the planet) mentioned, bring a notepad and be sure to write fast. Sometimes, we lose newbies along the way, especially with the acronyms. If you (or anyone else) fit that characterization, STOP US! Otherwise, we will just continue to run our mouths. To a person, every one of us enjoys helping newbs. We wouldn't be there otherwise. This is not the internet or FT where people will yell at you if you ask a repeat or "dumb" question. To a person, we hate that attitude.

6) Your spouse/significant other may think your hobby is a little nuts and going to meet a bunch of people that you met on the web is strange. Trust me, we're way cooler than they are. If they're not good with it, get rid of them.

7) Seriously, you will have fun. I'm a little on the shy side and felt strange about going to my first Do.

You'll get nothing and you'll like it. But I have added you to the list.

Update note

At Kinsale, we usually snag a table outside. I don't know what the weather will be like, but it's unlikely to happen this time. I'm going to give them a buzz to see what they can do for us.

It's likely going to be friggin' cold outside but at least we can hear each other talk without shouting.

But we are all used to the cold, aren't we?

That was my concern, but we'll take it as it comes.

Extended forecast says 64 for a high, guessing high 50s during the time we'd be there. Certainly workable to me.

If the outside is open, I'll see what we can do. I don't want to freeze anybody out.

If it's too cold, I'll see if we can get an isolated area inside.

Unfortunately can't make the DO but I can help you with C&J being from your parts.

C&J does go directly to South Station just be sure you check schedule as I'm not sure EVERY one of their busses do.

Take it to South Station and I'll let these guys take care of where you're going from South Station (since I scanned thru this thread and didn't pay any attention to where they're meeting up being I'll be stuck in Cleveland Monday )

Red line to Park St then Green line to Government Center. That's a lot of work for the distance though, especially at rush hour and if you're not familiar with the T. I'd suggest you just walk over. It's going to be just as fast.
