I would be in for a dinner with fellow FTers (feel a bit odd saying fellow, as I recently joined; we all start somewhere
) No particular budget, i'd be happy with a square meal
OT so please don't go out of your way to check anything for me, really just looking for input from people who have already picked a place, as I will do some more research when I'm free anyways.... I think there are a few that have an overnight in Toronto, and if so I would be interested in any hotel recommendations. I have never been there, but heard very good things, so I definitely want to check out the city. I've already checked out the city and found that there is a westin & sheraton close to YYZ with decent rates. Those in the know, would you recommend airport hotel or city hotel?
Never been to WAW so thanks to the few members who have and provided food/sight recommendations. I've made a tradition of getting travel guides to places i'm visiting and purchased 2 travel guides, one specifically for WAW and the other more for future trips. Since the first was only $1, if anyone is interested in it I can check it out and give a review of whether I think its worth getting.

ps. I have no vested interested in either of those two links, and have not read either yet (don't even have one), so please don't view that as a recommendation.

Hey Jason. I hope your studies are going well. Must give you a buzz next time I am in KRK. No miles and really bad service nowadays...I fly myself to KRK. Great view though. Costs a lot more, but then I get to decide when I have had enough of the in-laws
I went all out for this one. The day after we return from a week in Egypt with the wife and kids:
Nov 5th LUX-AMS-MSP-CVG
Nov 6th CVG-DCA-JFK-YUL-CDG
Nov 7th CDG-WAW layover from 11:55 to 16:55 before WAW-AMS-LUX
Nov 18th LUX-AMS-WAW for the night out with a friend from KBP who lives WAW...no hotel/bed needed
Nov 19th WAW-AMS-YUL
Nov 20th YUL-JFK-CDG
Nov 21st CDG-LUX

Lounge in WAW
I was planning to stay in the airport in Warsaw the night before the 6:15 AM flight out on 11/30. I saw that WAW has a lounge open 24/7 on the Shengen side and was wondering if it's possible to go through passport control the night before and spend the night airside?
Anyone have experience doing this?

Flying into WAW Nov 19th (4:10pm from AMS)
Flying out of WAW Nov 20th (12:55pm to AMS ... some extra time in the Netherlands was too good to pass up)
Currently have no plans/hotel booked ... probably should get on that.

Guys\Gals,
I've been searching for cheap and reliable transportation from the airport to the hotel by the central train station.
I think I found a winner. One way ticket cost only $1 and it doesn't stop at regular bus stops, just in front of the hotels.
It goes to the following hotels:
Hotel Gromada / Airport Hotel
Hotel Novotel / Business Garden
Hotel Sobieski / Hotel Golden Tulip
Hotel Marriott Holiday Inn / Intercontinental
Hotel Polonia Palace / Hotel Novotel Centrum
Hotel Jan III Sobieski
and at the end to the Central Train station / Metro Centrum.

For Westin people; I would get off at Intercontinental stop and walk 2 or 3 blocks on the same street (Aleja Jana Pawla II).
Check if your hotel is listed
Here is the link
http://www.warsawairporttransfer.pl/
Taxi from the airport to the central train station cost between $30-$40. Rip off. If you don't speak Polish I wouldn't be surprised if they charge you $50. Always negotiate the rate
If you have early AM departure out of WAW back to AMS or CDG I think you will have to take the taxi, but at least going to town you will save some money.
The bus stop is near Terminal 2 and the bus departs at these hours:
09.03 , 10.34 , 12.05 , 13.27 , 14.58 , 16.29 , 18.00.
Who is arriving on the 25th on KLM from AMS at noon? We can take the bus together. (BTW - I speak Polish)
Hope this helps a little.

I stayed at the Sheraton Warsaw, a short walk away from #175's Smyk stop on Aleje Jerozolimskie. Thanks SPG points and cash!
http://ztm.waw.pl/rozklad_nowy.php?c=182&l=2&q=175
and click on the specific stop for its schedule. #175 may not work for those flying out of WAW really early in the morning, but I rode it leaving Warsaw city to the airport since my flight was early afternoon. No problem.
Make sure you validate/timestamp the ticket in the little machine as you get on the bus. A transportation official stepped on a few stops into the journey from airport to city center and was checking tickets and passes.
Have fun!

One thought on the ATMs. If your bank is charging you $5 + % of the money withdrawn from ATMs bring with you cash and exchange the money at the airport. The transaction fee will be like $2 total. Not like here in US when you exchange money and they charge you $15 to do it.
Exchange $100 at the airport and later on you will find in the city places called Kantor, they have little bit better exchange rate than at the airport and they don't charge any transaction fees.
Kantor's are legal places to exchange the money. Don't exchange any money with strangers on the streets. I think thats no brainer

11/24 arriving into WAW from JFK-YUL-CDG overnighting @ The Marriott and heading via Train to Krakow 11/25 , flying back to WAW 11/28 and WAW-CDG-JFK on 11/29
theres a Courtyard @ WAW that costs 10k Marriott pts for a room,a steal especially if you have an early morn flight out
In town The Marriott is a Cat 3 = 15k in pts
I never stayed at either but compared to what the others want it was a no brainer of a choice for me

As for the CY at the airport. You just cross the street from the departures level and walk for 2 minutes straight ahead. Bad thing about this hotel were the prices in the restaurant. It was so expensive that I've decided to eat in the terminal (which is also expensive but cheaper than restaurant in the CY).

I've stayed at both properties. Downtown Marriott is pretty nice. They have a lounge on 42nd floor with very nice view. There is plenty of restaurants around that building. This Marriott is located in the highest building in Warsaw. Also, there was no alcohol in the lounge on weekend. (didn't stay there during the week).

Updated the first post about dinner
Dinner 26 Nov with Jason8612 and FTers
6PM U Kucharzy
Confirmed:
Jason8612 (staying at the IC)
KissFlyGoodbye
MR_MAMA
anbhc
matuag
I will arrive sometime in the early afternoon (by train), so I can meet up before dinner. Dinner should be yummy. I'm a big fan of their steak tartare there. They also got some nice Polish food. And if I recall a nice bakery also
The next day, I probably won't leave till the early afternoon (by train) so I'd be up for some breakfast/lunch.
