FYI to those who were wondering about Duty Free, I landed in YYZ earlier and was told that you go through security & US customs before you go to your gate, and there is a DF shop after the check. My flight is tomorrow monring, so I plan on passing security/customs & then getting DF for the flight to JFK. It will also be nice not to have to go through customs after the flight.

Sorry guys that I couldn't make the dinner. I'll make it up at the KRK Do
Matuag, were you the guy with glasses staying in Marriott? I was in the lounge on 38th floor twice during my stay and both times you were there (I think). Later I saw you at the window seat in the first row in economy class on flight WAW-AMS. I had FT tag on my bag.
If some of you are still in Warsaw. I would recommend this Greek restaurant. I went there for dinner on Friday and I was impressed with the quality and taste of food. This was the best Greek food that I ever had in my life.
Its located 5 minutes walking distance from the Marriott downtown, or just in front of the Radisson hotel.

As for the duty free in Canada, yes you can buy stuff at the gate area.
There is one DF shop right after you pass the check-ins and line up for the USBC. You can get your stuff there but you will have to carry it thru security (you can do it there). But when you pass passport control and security you will have 3 or 4 stores in the gate area. Easy shopping right there
As for the taxi at night to catch 6:15am KLM WAW-AMS flight. It cost about $7 without a tip from Marriott to the airport.

Scheduled arrival in WAW [from CDG] 02 Dec @ 11:55 am & depart on 05 Dec @ 7:05 am.
Staying at the Sofitel. Anyone interested in getting together for a drink or dinner while we're in Warsaw??
Long-time lurker and newbie mileage runner but looking forward to visiting the land of my maternal grandmother this weekend.

Great experience
I truly enjoyed meeting the other travellers to Warsaw and our host Jason was the best. Thank you Jason and I only wish I'd had the stamina to proceed on for a digestif with you all.
I liked what (little) I saw of Poland and will plan to return for a longer trip I reckon.
The outbound with KLM was fine but the trip back with AF . . . er . . . less so. I'd forgotten how horrible is the lack of a personal air vent in the A340 particularly. CDG inter terminal transit procedures . . . shades of Jacques Tati's best work. Bloody hell what a shambles.
I enjoyed each and everyone's company and only wish I had not been fighting low energy reserves from the outbound.
Do stay in touch and I hope we might cross paths (some of us) in some other restaurant, for more congenial and shared travel passions. Are the photos anywhere posted please?
Thanks again for the pleasure of your company gents.

In case helpful to know, the Hilton was excellent in terms of room and service and price but not quite so good in terms of being just a little farther out from the epicenter (a couple of miles) of WAW than is ideal for sightseeing and restaurants. That said, bus runs right by.
Good breakfast buffet. A superlative young bartender (who you'll know if you have him as you will feel in extremely good hands) and general feeling of a well run establishment.
As I say, though, a little bit worst of both worlds: neither in the true center nor right at the airport.
If there, and feeling adventurous, ask the bartender for the 9% dark (bottled) version of Zywiec beer. Tasty darned strong stuff !

Just got back last night from my first WAW MR- another coming up this weekend
Well it was a fun albeit tiring weekend.
IAD-JFK-YUL-CDG-WAW on the way there - and then a leg to Cracow where I spent the weekend sightseeing. Major frustration at YUL in that my flight got in at something like 9am which forced me to pass through Canadian immigration, customs, etc and completely exit planeside areas (b/c the transfer gates were all closed since there are no intl flights in the morning apparently). Once I got out of the planeside area I couldn't get back in either b/c 1. My PNR was requiring me to check-in at the counter with AF for the remaining legs and 2.AF desk closed until 1pm. So without an AF boarding pass I was stranded outside security and even if I had been able to get through it would have been irrelevant since the AF lounge doesn't open till the afternoon anyway. BOO. I ended up sitting in the Marriott Bar for 5+ hours waiting and surfing the net/working remotely.
Another bummer was that upon arrival at WAW (with 4 hours till my flight to cracow on LOT) they wouldn't let me use the KLM lounge (I am Diamond) b/c its only for ppl departing on skyteam, not *arriving* on skyteam. Is this correct policy or was the lounge lady wrong?
Had a stellar weekend sightseeing in Cracow and while I didn't have time to meet up with goldendragon822 as I'd hoped, I DID meet nytracon face to face. He and I had eyed each other a few times at the gate and it looked like he wanted to say hello (didn't realize he was a fellow flyertalker) and then he finally introduced himself (he could tell I was a FT b/c of my bright yellow FT bag tags I assume) using the topic of another passenger who was vomiting in the gate area. I had to laugh at the conversational "in" he chose.
Still it was great to chat.
Heading back to WAW this weekend as well, and this time I'll be in WAW all day SAT so would love to catch up with any FT on the way there or once on the ground. Will be in AMS all day Sunday and happy to meet anyone there also.

I echo the thanks to all who have gone before -- I'm sure it will make my trip much easier and I am grateful. That is what is so great about FT!
