PHX DO!

Has there been a PHX DO???

SkiAdcock Aug 9, 2011 10:59 am

I don't know if there were entire weekend dos (but I think there were), but I know there have been some get-together for dinner in PHX Dos.

If you're interested in either organzing a dinner or a weekend, go for it!

Cheers.

How about something next March when PHX is overrun with baseball fans and the weather is spectacular? Maybe something in Mesa - we could meet on the berm at Ho Ho Kam and watch the Cubs, then continue drinking at a local watering hole or meet later for dinner.

Good idea^ After having a Do in Tucson this past spring (had a lunch @ BK Carne Asada, dinner @ El Charro & some of us also toured the Titan missle silo), I know there are some folks that are hoping for another springtime Arizona based Do.:-:

travelista Aug 9, 2011 4:21 pm

Yes!!

How about in reverse...let's DO PHX! :)

I'm all about it, definitely enjoyed myself last time around. Anybody have any suggestions of timeframes and/or locations?

End of August or September anyone?? :)

FlightNurse Aug 9, 2011 6:42 pm

I don't mind helping setting this up, and Spring Training really does seem to be the best time...

MRKEY Aug 9, 2011 9:13 pm

Please count me as an attendee for sure! I wouldn't miss it for the world and catching up with our amazing FT'ers. So... Let's DO PHX!

Hotel rates are high at that time but the weather is beautiful. In July and August the rates are so low and when you include promos some hotels are almost free.

FlightNurse Aug 10, 2011 5:20 am

Interesting, asking if there has been a PHX DO is now been turned into my idea

I'd be interested in getting together in PHX as well for a DO.

Consider it training for when you help out w/ the Austin Do in 2014 ;) :D

Cheers.

FlightNurse Aug 10, 2011 9:57 am

In July and Aug weather is hot and humdit and possible rainy. Its always a trade off, I'd take the higher hotel rate over horrible weather.

LOL...

I'm willing to HELP, so if people want to step up and help we could put something together.

I can't think of any better excuse to go and visit the place I lived for 7 years. I'm in.

I think the message is clear here, that FlightNurse does NOT want to take lead on planning a Do but is gracious enough to help out.

Why doesn't this thread continue to guage interest for a PHX Do? It looks like most would be interested in a PHX spring time Do and perhaps later this year, someone will take the ball up and plan a Do for that time.@:-)

I'd be happy to help from here (I could contact Ho Ho Kams about a block of tickets), but if I were to organize, we'd be at Roaring Fork every night eating green chile pork and green chili mac and cheese, and a ballgame every day. :D

Yes, we have a nice restaurant in my area. You can come at Desert Ridge if you like.

You are always welcome to come in Desert Ridge Marketplace. We have a nice restaurant at CPK, Island's Burger or Pita Jungle.

FlightNurse Aug 11, 2011 12:10 am

I know Desert Ridge very well I live north about .5 miles from it. But it might not be a place that really shows off local food, too many corp places.

You could live near me on Mayo Blvd & Zachary Dr. You can lookup on Google Earth.

FlightNurse Aug 11, 2011 10:14 am

Possible, but you are south of Desert Ridge, I'm north of Desert Ridge.

I'm only in town for 3 or 4 months a year, but am up for anything while I'm in town. <Hint: I try to leave for as much of the summer as possible.>

That's the best idea I've ever heard. Though I'd be all over the lamb chop fondue appetizer.

Lamb, YES ! too many folks have only had the overcooked gray crappy lamb served with mint sauce, UGH! (no wonder most folks haven't tried it since). Just had a lamb w/cumin dish at a local Chinese place, divine !
Sorry to get off topic but as you can tell, I likes me lamb.

Yeah, do you know where Fireside? We are live in South Desert Ridge. You haven't see it at my house before?

Why we don't go to Swiss restaurant? We have one on Hayden Rd.

Well I am in TUS several times a year so a PHX DO would be great and. I have had quite the enjoyment of organizing/helping the PBI/FLL DL Meets for 6 years I believe. I'm happy to help although right now I'm living near PBI. Anyway count me in and Spring or Fall is fine with me. I'll commit to the ticket raffle organization for door prizes ( Airline amenities are always welcome). CX FC PJ's always go first, but anything theme related from your home town, Hot Sauce, Ant Farms. Swiss or Israeli Chocolates etc are welcome. Everybody will leave with a prize. It actually gets to be loads of fun.

I get CX PJ's most of the time, so I'm sure I can donate at least one of them.

I'll throw in CX 881 Playing Cards and the old Grey PJ's circa 2001 if that helps ;) .

I'm living in Scottsdale for now so I'd consider being in.

I've met a couple of FTers at the Phoenix airport since I moved in.

Well, here I am. You can meet me in Desert Ridge sometime the future. You are always welcome to come.

I love the idea of another Do here! It was great to have dinner with Sweet Willie and others, was very sorry to miss the Tucson gathering.

I can't lead it, but sure can follow. Anything but December and January are great for me!

Perhaps, I thint its work out very well. You can come to PHX sometime in between Dec or Jan. Whether if you decide to come at dinner in Desert Ridge or Mayo Blvd & Scottsdale Rd. If you don't mind to come join us.

Oh! I see. I thought she didn't come here. Which the specific month when she can come here?

FlightNurse Aug 14, 2011 5:41 pm

Trying to plan an event around other people schedule is not a wise move. The best way to do it is JUST plane the event, if people can make it, great, if not there is always next time.
