Yes, unfortunately, this is not good timings for you at all. Maybe there will try again in the future.

Some another time. Sorry, Guys.

I'm not too sure what you mean by your post.... I highlighted the part which I'm confused!

Phoenix

I live north off Carefree Hwy and I-17 so I'd be "in" if a DO was organized locally. Can't commit to organizing but I can commit to attending.

You live very closer to me in Desert Ridge. You could come stop by to says hello.

FlightNurse Aug 17, 2011 11:47 pm

He lives about 15 miles NORTH of you, to me that is not VERY close

Not too sure how you get that lives close to you.

Was the above necessary? I'm sure the 2 can figure it out & don't need a 3rd party telling them (in BOLD no less ).

If you're interested in helping with a Do, maybe you can suggest some activities, locations & dates, and people can vote on what they'd be interested in doing & perhaps take the lead to organize, with you helping.

Cheers.

Suggestions:
- Arizona Diamondbacks baseball game
- Arizona State Sun Devils football game
- Desert Botanical Gardens
- Camelback Mountain Hike
- First Friday Art Walk in Downtown Phoenix
- Salt River Tubing (summer only obviously)

Just a few off the top of my head

Spring training in March, preferably Ho Ho Kam.

CMK10 great ideas, I had someone PM me and they brought up a good point, not everybody is into Baseball (gasp), my thought would be having two events at the same time. So if members partners, wifes, GF or BF want to come but don't want to the baseball game then they can go some place else. I really like the Derest Botanical Gardens idea, the blooms in the spring time are trully amazing.

First Friday isn't what it was, it has turned violent too much gang activity which is too bad, I use to love going to it.

I really like the idea of a spring training game, its cheap, its fun, and people can all sit together without a problem. Games are usally over by 3pm, enough time for people to go back to the hotel, relax around the pool before heading out for the evening event(s).

Would love to hear from others from out of town on events they are interested in. Regarding food, we have some amazing places (ask Guy Fieri) that are not part of the Corp world, so we wouldn't have a problem witih that.

So what do you folks think ???

Good points. Divergent activities during the daytime hours stlll allows plenty of time in the evening for everyone to reconvene.

FlightNurse Aug 18, 2011 2:07 pm

Morning easy hikes is a great way to start the day too... Lots to do here in the spring time..

Actually, D-Backs is still in 1st place NL West. Let's keep fingered crossed. If D-Backs will be very successful. They will continued to win the game. Sooner or later D-Backs is going playoffs for first-time ever since 2007.

Since I am a local I may be able to help with the planning and logistics. It depends on the date chosen and my schedule.

I've been meaning to hike Camelback...I have a friend doing it at 6 a.m. tomorrow morning but that just sounds too early to me (especially since I have to work later in the morning).

Winter time sounds like good weather to do it though.

Sorry that I won't hiking in early morning. I'll be sleeping all morning long. I can't go out. Because the weather is very extremely hot out there. When the weather will cool down sometime in October or November.

FlightNurse Aug 19, 2011 2:20 am

THis is one reason why spring time for a PHX DO is the best time, it allows for people to take advantage of our wonderful weather. I'm not one to go hiking in the summer, just too damn hot for me.

I used to regularly hike Camelback (my record from bottom to top was 42 minutes in my better shape days) and you can do it up through about early April when it starts to get uncomfortable even in the mornings.

I don't like to go out of my house during the summer, unless it's to the airport to leave! :)

Someone may want to create a poll w/ 3 separate dates & people can then vote. The mods can help w/ the poll set-up once you've figured the 3 different weekends.

Cheers.

mhnadel Aug 19, 2011 11:37 am

As an out of towner, a spring training game would be the thing that would be most appealing to me as something to do.

For those who don't like baseball, the other thing I really enjoyed in Phoenix relatively recently was the fairly new (opened last year) Museum of Music. I was actually there on opening day and, even though not all the exhibits were open yet, it took me pretty much all day.

FlightNurse Aug 19, 2011 5:22 pm

Thanks Sharon, dates are being worked on, once that happens I'll let you know.

I'm not a huge fan of baseball but I've never caught a spring training game, so I'd like to. I do agree that spring training is a big draw for a Do.

Do you mean to state the Musical Instrument Museum? ( www.themim.org )

My parents went this past spring and couldn't stop raving about it. Said the Musical Instrument Museum is a must do. (no pun intended).

It wasn't that hot as I walked from my office today down Mill Avenue in Tempe to lunch at Gordon Biersch...

For someone living their first summer in Arizona, it hasn't been that bad! Though the dust storms...

Agree Spring Training might be the best time for a DO - even getting lawn seats out in the outfield somewhere would be a good time and good for conversation for those not interested in baseball (plus it helps that I live within walking distance to Scottsdale Stadium and have quite a few other complexes within a 15 minute drive of my condo).

Herb687 Aug 25, 2011 11:29 am

Horse racing at Turf Paradise?

Also, for those who missed the Pima Air Museum and Davis-Monthan AFB boneyard tour in TUS this spring I would strongly recommend a day trip down to TUS; something not to be missed for aviation enthusiasts!

FlightNurse Aug 25, 2011 11:12 pm

Items to keep in mind..

BTW, love your elite status with those defuncted airlines.. So are you going to watch the TV Show Pan Am this fall?

OK folks I beleive its time to ramp up some interest in a PHX DO weekend. I was contacted by someone who is willing to do a MR seminar (basic 101) which I think is great. Baseball, food and MR seminar sounds like a plan.

So let hear from those who would step up to help plan this, I am not moving to Austin so I'll be staying here in PHX. I know I wont be able to plan this on my own, I could used some help..

Jaimito Cartero Dec 6, 2011 6:59 am

I'm expecting to be in town from late Feb to early Apr.

Not sure if I will be there. If I get a schedule from my work. I am already accepted my new job at Albertsons. Probably, I iwll let you know if I can see you.

A Feb-March PHX DO will work for me.

This Eastern Airlines ET (Executive Traveler) might have some time available for the Valley of the Sun in February or early March. :)

daiseee Dec 10, 2011 9:32 am

I'll make the trip! Count me in as very interested... :)

CMK10 Dec 13, 2011 2:50 pm

I'm interested as well, Spring is such a nice time to be in the Valley of the Sun.

aztimm Dec 14, 2011 2:57 pm

So long as I'm in town, and not too busy with work, I'd be interested.

I'd be interested in the PHX event. Of course, just as for many of us who don't like the December panic, Jan-Feb is my MR season, not Dec... but if I can make it I will.
