Some another time. Sorry, Guys. |
I'm not too sure what you mean by your post.... I highlighted the part which I'm confused!

Phoenix
I live north off Carefree Hwy and I-17 so I'd be "in" if a DO was organized locally. Can't commit to organizing but I can commit to attending.

If you're interested in helping with a Do, maybe you can suggest some activities, locations & dates, and people can vote on what they'd be interested in doing & perhaps take the lead to organize, with you helping. Cheers. |
Suggestions:
- Arizona Diamondbacks baseball game - Arizona State Sun Devils football game - Desert Botanical Gardens - Camelback Mountain Hike - First Friday Art Walk in Downtown Phoenix - Salt River Tubing (summer only obviously) Just a few off the top of my head |

CMK10 great ideas, I had someone PM me and they brought up a good point, not everybody is into Baseball (gasp), my thought would be having two events at the same time. So if members partners, wifes, GF or BF want to come but don't want to the baseball game then they can go some place else. I really like the Derest Botanical Gardens idea, the blooms in the spring time are trully amazing.
First Friday isn't what it was, it has turned violent too much gang activity which is too bad, I use to love going to it. I really like the idea of a spring training game, its cheap, its fun, and people can all sit together without a problem. Games are usally over by 3pm, enough time for people to go back to the hotel, relax around the pool before heading out for the evening event(s). Would love to hear from others from out of town on events they are interested in. Regarding food, we have some amazing places (ask Guy Fieri) that are not part of the Corp world, so we wouldn't have a problem witih that. So what do you folks think ???

Good points. Divergent activities during the daytime hours stlll allows plenty of time in the evening for everyone to reconvene.

Since I am a local I may be able to help with the planning and logistics. It depends on the date chosen and my schedule.

Winter time sounds like good weather to do it though. |

THis is one reason why spring time for a PHX DO is the best time, it allows for people to take advantage of our wonderful weather. I'm not one to go hiking in the summer, just too damn hot for me.

Someone may want to create a poll w/ 3 separate dates & people can then vote. The mods can help w/ the poll set-up once you've figured the 3 different weekends.
Cheers. |
As an out of towner, a spring training game would be the thing that would be most appealing to me as something to do.
For those who don't like baseball, the other thing I really enjoyed in Phoenix relatively recently was the fairly new (opened last year) Museum of Music. I was actually there on opening day and, even though not all the exhibits were open yet, it took me pretty much all day. |
Thanks Sharon, dates are being worked on, once that happens I'll let you know.

My parents went this past spring and couldn't stop raving about it. Said the Musical Instrument Museum is a must do. (no pun intended). |

I don't like to go out of my house during the summer, unless it's to the airport to leave! :)
For someone living their first summer in Arizona, it hasn't been that bad! Though the dust storms... Agree Spring Training might be the best time for a DO - even getting lawn seats out in the outfield somewhere would be a good time and good for conversation for those not interested in baseball (plus it helps that I live within walking distance to Scottsdale Stadium and have quite a few other complexes within a 15 minute drive of my condo). |

Horse racing at Turf Paradise?
Also, for those who missed the Pima Air Museum and Davis-Monthan AFB boneyard tour in TUS this spring I would strongly recommend a day trip down to TUS; something not to be missed for aviation enthusiasts! |
Items to keep in mind..
BTW, love your elite status with those defuncted airlines.. So are you going to watch the TV Show Pan Am this fall?

OK folks I beleive its time to ramp up some interest in a PHX DO weekend. I was contacted by someone who is willing to do a MR seminar (basic 101) which I think is great. Baseball, food and MR seminar sounds like a plan.
So let hear from those who would step up to help plan this, I am not moving to Austin so I'll be staying here in PHX. I know I wont be able to plan this on my own, I could used some help.. |
I'm expecting to be in town from late Feb to early Apr.

I'll make the trip! Count me in as very interested... :)
|
I'm interested as well, Spring is such a nice time to be in the Valley of the Sun.
|
So long as I'm in town, and not too busy with work, I'd be interested.
