Help an aussie

Not sure if this is the right place to ask but il try it out and if it gets moved i know why.

So im a average factory worker living in Sydney married with two daughters 4 and 2. The first was smooth sailing just like the doctor ordered. The second wasn't so great. Half way thru we get told she's got severe cleft lip and palate both sides we going to be in for a tough ride.

Nearly two years past its hard honestly she also has a chromosome disorder and for unknown reasons she cant eat or speak. Weekly visits to the children hospital in Sydney seeing sick kids is the worse of the worse. We need to get away . So i start planning and looking for ways to travel cheap and enjoy a little more. I joined a few hotel loyalty programs somehow got invited for a diamond trial with hyatt. Once i got the diamond benefits i tried status matching hilton came thru i haven't tried anyone else.

Now with the status of diamond i read thru pages of how to get the cheapest accommodation and i came across the stay certificates. I used a few and saved the rest for the trip which i planning for the whole family to Europe next may/june.

Next came the flights and i discovered US DM and checked for the flights and asked questions. I joined myself and wife into the program and waiting for promotions or anyway to earn miles cheaply. I can across the grand slam promo people are waiting for. So now im trying to get organized for that . Im hoping to achieve the 36 hits (In theory) needed to get the 100,000 bonus miles. All together i need 480,000 to flight Sydney to Europe. Stopping anywhere on any flight practically any time as long as we are together .

In Europe the only thing i want to do is take the kids to euro-disney and my wife is from sali so she wants to go to Croatia.

So the help im seeking is how to earn points for stays with hilton or hyatt or any hotels . How to make the most of the status of have (hyatt diamond already expired in plat) so hilton gold. Also how to earn enough miles for the flights. I have looked at buying them but 27.50 for 1,000 its just too much.

In regards to being in australia how can i make the most to get the 36 hits to get the bonuses of the GS 2011 promo thats suppose to be in september. I cant join any credit cards i joined the qantas club for free which im earning QFF but 1 point after i spend $30 so its going nowhere.

Also one thing i need to know my daughter is tube feed thru a pump that connects to her tummy without it she wont survive can i take that on board to fly ?

I also thought about buying cheap points from the cc but havent got enough posts yet to have access . I daily read the points guy /frugal travller and miles high / view from the wing nothing that i have seen can help me much being outside the US.

Im not a business owner i dont get paid to travel the world or stay at fancy hotels my education stopped at the end of high school so i know im way in over my head . Every time i try to post something or chime in i get bad feedback and was told to post else where. Which is here i dont know where else to go.

Any help is much needed and appreciated.

I think the best places to post are in the individual forums for each program you are interested in maximizing benefits.

Actually, you probably need to break you posts up into several different - one for each program you're trying to get the benefits from.

I'm sorry, but whomever told you that was misinformed.

This forum is to plan community get togethers, celebrate milestones, introduce yourself, etc.

Perhaps you're getting bad feedback because you haven't really summariezed what you'd like to do and ask for specific help. At least that's what someone in the US forum asked you to do.

Is this the post that told you to come to CommunityBuzz! ? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/16835236-post6840.html

I don't see anything there telling you to post here. Looking over your posting history, a combination of bad grammar and wildly scattered questions make it very difficult and frustrating to try to help you. What I strongly suggest is that you calm down and try to think about what plan you have right now. Now think of what you're not sure of. SEARCH for your questions (using both FT's search and Google)--they've probably been answered. Once you've firmed up your ideas, THEN you can go ahead and post in the appropriate forum and thread, and hopefully your more difficult questions will be answered.

Happy travels!

A couple other points:

If you're referring to Coupon Connection, you can't buy points there. You can barter points in one program for points in another, and various other items (upgrade certificates, hotel stay certificates, etc.). Notice the verb: barter.

To my (very limited) knowledge, that will depend on the operating carrier, and possibly what laws are in effect for that carrier. I would recommend talking to your daughter's care provider. You can also read the Disability Travel forum here--it's possible someone else has run into the same issue you have.

Kind of a rude post for the OP, IMO

OP - as others mentioned, there is a a section of FT for each program, so perhaps a focused post in each of the programs you want to build points in is more appropriate. The background story can be held for the moment, and ask for help to focus on point earning in your area. It may not be easy but it's worth the effort. Keep an eye on the Qantas forum, as that's more Australia fo used and you never know when a deal may come along. Within FT, also start reading the MilesBuzz forum and expand the blogs you read to some that have an international or even Australia specific focus (keep up with the two you have)

As far as taking your child on the flight, you should talk with her doctor and get his advice, and a letter about her medicine and requirements. You should also have information in cas something happens while away for the doctors there to read and understand her situation. As far as security you should be okay, but be adamant about how they handle her and make sure she is okay without too much force (if possible). I recommend you do not transit the US during your trip, as we unfortunately have the rudest, most incompetent security folks who will put your child at risk with no consideration or understanding for the situation.

Good luck with your miles collecting!

Shanye2233 you've had some good advice about splitting the information you seek into the programme specific forums and asking there - that would be the best way to get the info and suggestions for how to get advice. Reading your post, I think there are three different areas you are seeking advice on:

- How to maximise US airways miles earning in Australia to get the amount you need
- how to get the hotel points you need
- how to ensure your daughter is flown safely

Each of those is worthy of a thread on its own really, to help you get the best information. Additionally, I don't know how much OT stuff is allowed in either the QF forum or the Australia forum - drop a note to the moderators (if you need help finding out who they are, drop me a message) to see what they will allow in the way of slightly off topic posting to maximise the knowledge that Australian based frequent flyers can provide - the US forum can be a bit US centric, and it's local knowledge you are also needing.

One thing to note - Hyatt is not a great programme for European hotels. Hilton or Priority Club (Holiday Inn) are usually more widespread - PC can be stupidly easy to earn points in, so might be worth considering that as well. Don't worry too much about status - if you can get the points, you can get the stay. Also, consider that it might be cost effective buying some tickets and using points for the others - you want the cheapest options for travel and there may be a point where actually paying for some will be cheaper than continuing to have to spend to get more points/miles.

Because your thread covers a range of areas, it isn't really suitable for a move to any one of those areas. You might also want to consider posting a review of your point earning stragety into Milesbuzz! to see if anyone can help you target your earning in the most efficient manner. In the meantime, I'll close this thread since it is off topic for Communitybuzz!
