There may be some activities going on Oct. 9. If nothing else you could come by the Cap Ren for happy hour or dinner that night if there is an official dinner happening. I don't think there's a schedule yet.

Put down as very likely as I am moving to China, near Shanghai, Sept 1 and will be ready to get out of there in October.

I need to be in Tianjin on the 10th, so will probably be arriving in Beijing on the 8th (subject to final confirmation) and heading to Tianjin by road sometime on the 9th. Would be interested in meeting up on the 8th evening or 9th daytime depending on activities and flight schedules.

This thread went out in the flyertalk mail email under upcoming FT get togethers. Now lots of people know about it. Except it doesn't appear there is going to be an official get-together. I'm trying to meet up individually with a few people who live in Beijing, but so far I have no specific plans or dates lined up. I've heard from B747-437B and moondog offline but nothing is arranged yet.

Hello Moondog
In spite of the fact my that profile suggests I live in Oregon, I spend the bulk of my time in China, which I know quite well. As such, it's my pleasure to invite you guys to come over here and understand what all the fuss is about. Pending availability, you'll be able to shack up at the Renaissance Beijing Capital Hotel at a really good rate, or somewhere cheaper (I like the YoYo Hotel in Sanlitun).
In terms of activities, the ballot is open, but I pledge to make myself available to accommodate all requests (Great Wall, spas, Xiangshan, etc).

My BW, Barbara, and I have been to China 20 times since 2000. Beijing is like our home away from home. We have stayed at the Renaissance (I'm a lifetime Platinum) often. Wish we could join you, but not this time. Enjoy.

Hi, guys. I'm sorry I forgot about this thread. Due to a schedule conflict, I won't be able to make it to PEK before the weekend, but some other people are planning on doing something (being discussed in the China forum).

Beijing and Shanghai
My husband and I are taking an A&K Wonders of China in Oct. Arriving 3 days early in Shanghai (Oct. 13--15) and leaving 3 days post tour Beijing (Oct. 28-31). Looking for interesting ways to spend those days which will not duplicate the tour. Any suggestions from tour guides?

The Beijing imminent meet-up is set for October 9 or 10, with feedback urgently requested on drink/dinner options over on the China forum thread. Head over there if you are around and want to join in the camaraderie.
If there is another contingent of FT'ers that will be showing up in Beijing in November, we can do it again.
