Lightbulb Franconian DO II - The beer DO NUE - June 8-10 2012

hi everyone,

now it is time to announce the date for the second Franconian DO in and around NUE for spring next year:

June 8-10 2012

the region of franconia is the mecca of all beer drinkers. nowhere on earth you can find such a density of breweries as in franconia. so this DO will be themed around beer.

the events, venues and schedule for the DO will be announced later on. now it is time to block the date in your calendar.

looking forward to meeting old and new friends in my hometown.

PLEASE REGISTER AT THE EVENTBRITE EVENT WEBSITE http://franconiando2.eventbrite.com

cheers
CHris

p.s. here is the link to the thread of the first franconian do.

hi there,

here is a hotel list for the Franconian DO 2012:

Priority Club Property
Holiday Inn Nuremberg Center

Starwood Properties
Le Meridien Grand Hotel
Sheraton Carlton Hotel

HiltonHonors Property
Hilton Nuremberg (NOT centrally located)

Best Western Properties
Best Western Hotel Nuremberg
Best Western Hotel Nuremberg West

Radisson Goldpoints Property
park inn Nuremberg

AccorHotel Properties
Woehrdersee Hotel Mercure Nürnberg City
Ibis Nürnberg Centrum
Ibis Nürnberg Altstadt
Ibis Nürnberg City

There are various other hotels which are centrally located but not belonging to international hotel chains - e.g. the Maritim Nuremberg or the NH Nuremberg City.

Another cheap hotel chain (I really like) is Motel One. They have two properties in Nuremberg - and they are budget design hotels.
http://www.motel-one.com/uk/hotels/nurnberg.html

you can find various other hotels in all categories on hrs. i would recommend to choose a centrally located hotel ...

By Air

*A Flights to NUE
LH from DUS, FRA, HAM, MUC, TXL
LX from ZRH
TK from IST

other *A carriers offer flights to NUE via FRA, DUS, MUC, ZRH.

SkyTeam Flights to NUE
AF from CDG
KL from AMS

other ST carriers offer flights to NUE via AMS and CDG.

unfortunatly no oneworld airline is currently flying to NUE
when travelling with a OW carrier the best strategy would be to fly to FRA and take a ICE-train to Nuremberg (it's a two hour ride). However end of March Air Berlin will join oneworld, so from then there are plenty of options.

Regular Scheduled Air Berlin Flights to NUE
from DUS, HAM, TXL, PMI, LGW, VIE

getting from the airport to the city center is very convenient. you can just take the subway which will cost 2,40€ for a single ride and take you to the main station in about 12 minutes.

We could not get to the first NUE DO but have been hearing for quite a while how great it was.

Therefore, we will do all that we can to get to this one.

f0zzyNUE - Thank you for organizing this. I loved attending your first Franconian DO. Can I attend OzFest #9, the Franconian DO II, and Jenbel's Island DO next year, I wonder?

in german there is a saying "wo ein wille ist, ist auch ein weg" - which means "when you have the will, then there's a way"
