Such sad news. I first met Dave at the original BRT and our paths have crossed over the years, most recently at last year's OzFest in Adelaide.
Always a delight to talk with and I'll miss him.
Many here have probably met him and just can't match up the screen name.
Here's a photo from last year (left to right - Newself, ozstamps, JDiver).
What a great memory. What a great guy.
VALE Dave, and condolences to Jeannie and family.

Was getting ready to upload some pics of recent European trip & came across this from 2 years ago at my Goodbye to LA/Hello Midwest lunch.
Last time I saw Dave. RIP my friend.
Cheers.

He fainted while at Starbucks that morning, and woke up surrounded by paramedics. They wanted to take him into the hospital for further evaluation. He called Jeanne to tell her he felt fine and would call when he needed a ride home. He didn't call, so she went to the hospital anyway, and he was already gone. I can't even fathom how devastating that must have been for her.
Dave was troubled with heart issues going back several years. It seem things were pretty rough health-wise around Christmas time, and although he was rebounding ... in that last month looked better than he had in a couple years, he was scheduled to have an ICD put in at the end of June.
Jeanne's really struggling right now. I know she read this thread last week, and really appreciates all the kind things she read, and the photos too.

Sad... very sad. I always enjoyed Dave's company. He took me "under his wing" at many Do's and acted as a stern father when I got a bit out of hand. What a nice kind soul he had. Rest in peace Dave. Another page of FT book is closing with your passing.

I just read this thread title and thought I read it wrong. I am so incredibly sad to hear this news. Dave was always exceptionally kind and welcoming to all. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.
