My upgrade is now waitlisted. (V class)

Also waitlisted, H class

This UA non-status guy will not be upgrading, but is thankful for the E+ seat and drink certs. :)

The party will definitely be in E+, didn't I hear UA installed Xbox Kinect on their 763 fleet? lucky9876coins will be busting out his wicked moves to Poker Face! ;)

H class?!?!? Darn you! So this should actually be an interesting experiment as to how upgrade clearance actually works. Anyone else booked above a "V" class?

C'mon now, I'll be too busy listening to Channel 9 making sure Captain Denny doesn't miss any calls. ;)

New to Flyertalk, but avid reader of Lucky's blog.

Put me down for the dinner and the pre-party only. I live in the East Bay and so will drive. If anyone needs a ride from anywhere else (even from SJC to restaurant), I would be happy to help. Just send me a PM to arrange.

To answer the status questions, I am not staying at the Hyatt, and wish I were Hyatt Diamond or foreign *G. I do, however, have one RCC pass I can gift.

Welcome to FlyerTalk (and did I mention you're awesome?:D)! Look forward to meeting you.

hausrath Mar 22, 2011 6:02 pm

Alright - assuming no work situations come up at the last minute: I'm in!

I won't be able to make it to the dinner, as my flight gets in too late, but I should be around for at least breakfast/RCC/UA760/afterparty.

To answer lucky's questions:
1) No - Staying at the Westin SFO Airport just down the road
2) No
3) Yes - RCC Member

I'll also staying over at the ORD IC on Saturday night - I assume the F&F rate is the best way to go on this? (It prices the standard room out at $81+, which I feel like is probably the best deal around...)

Wow, I can't believe that rate is available for booking < 7 days out. One bedroom suite is going for $149+. Nice.

Just in case anyone needs to book cheaper, I know Priceline 4* ORD Sat night was going for $46 ($60 all in) a few days ago.

Forgive the ignorant question from someone who rarely stays at an IC: What is the F&F rate, and how does one get it?

Rides to Max's Burlingame

I'm in the northern portion of the Peninsula. If you need rides to/from BART/Caltrain stations for the dinner, please PM/e-mail me directly.

Closest BART/Caltrain station to dinner - Millbrae

My upgrade cleared overnight, I am in H class. Guess I'll be a snob sitting in FC, but I'll join the party wherever it is. (after I enjoy my hot nuts).

BTW, I'm in 4F currently. I usually avoid middle seats on the ghetto bird due to crap overhead bins, but as I figured easy aisle access would be preferred.

cawhite Mar 23, 2011 6:29 am

I cleared last night on a V fare (1K).

gomike Mar 23, 2011 6:49 am

I have cleared also

Anyone flying in on UA973 on Friday like me?

MatthewLAX Mar 23, 2011 9:28 am

Upgrade cleared. 2J for me.

3C on the late ORD-LAX on Saturday.

Still waitlisted on FRA-ORD, BOS-SFO!!

Don't forget the Hyatt showercap :p

I'll be in 3A on the flight. I'll also be in the RCC on Friday afternoon, before heading to the Hyatt..

squeakr Mar 23, 2011 10:45 am

sorry to say we will have to back out of dinner

We thought Mr. s would have had some work by now but that hasn't been the case. So we just can't do it. Hope it's a great time!

We are traveling on Saturday for a family situation so may see some of you at SFO. Hope to fly with the good Captain at some point!

Thanks!!! Bookmarked.

chrisw Mar 23, 2011 10:51 am

Looks like the party in F is growing . 5E and 5F for us (easy access to both aisles).

I agree with others that it may be more fun to be in coach, but with the exhorbitant coach fares, the F saver award was just too tempting for this flight.

Since we're on outright awards, though, so we can't contribute to the upgrade clearance experiment.

ryandc99 Mar 23, 2011 11:04 am

Looking forward to meeting many of you at Dinner on Friday and seeing some of you again!

This is a great way to meet a lot of Bay Area FTers (and others too ;) )! I'm glad you'll be joining in the fun.

I'll be on this flight, too -- a few rows in back of you unless there's a miraculous UDU.

dfreeman02 Mar 23, 2011 2:32 pm

Just discovered this thread and booked a standard Y award for the flight -- right now in 12D. Sounds like too much fun to miss. Two tasks remain: finding a flight home and convincing my wife to let me go. I'd say 30% chance I'll be in attendance.

geoffco Mar 23, 2011 5:56 pm

As a newly minted 1k (based on 100k+ on CO last year), I'm learning the hard way that 1k status, while indicated on my account and in reservations, doesn't transfer to the UDU process. I wasn't "waitlisted" until 72hrs on my Friday flights, so I called 1k. Unfortunately, it was after all of you folks cleared NF. I'm waitlisted on a W fare.

Flying to SJC on Friday afternoon. Arriving at 6:30pm, have a ow car rental to SFO. Hope to be in time for dinner! Hoping more to snag a vdb and get rerouted to SFO! :D

Top of climb Mar 23, 2011 6:35 pm

I am in 4A (thanks karung99!!)

FriendlySkies Mar 23, 2011 7:00 pm

If you are staying at the SFO Hyatt, and would like to find a cheaper rate, check the HR SFO Facebook. Advertising rooms for $109..

Hey all -- can't believe I didn't see this until now. If there's still room, please count me and +1 for dinner. Unfortunately work commitments means I won't be able to fly with you all but still looking forward to seeing faces old and new!

lucky9876coins Mar 23, 2011 8:49 pm

Great!^ There's still plenty of room for dinner -- the private room we has holds up to 50 people. If more people can join us, great!

gomike Mar 23, 2011 8:53 pm

lucky did you clear?

fuw3 Mar 23, 2011 10:43 pm

Change fuw3 +1 guest to confirmed for dinner. See you all there! Thanks!

Let's hope for a miracle!

bk3day Mar 24, 2011 4:43 am

aaaah ....as expected this lowly T fare is still firmly planted in Y.

lucky9876coins Mar 24, 2011 9:35 am

Would any local be able to give Captain Denny and his FO a ride from their hotel to Max's (they're only half a mile apart)? If so, please shoot me a PM.

Thanks!
