The Embassy of the Netherlands is right by Hillwood - just a bit up the street. I'm not sure what they do for the open house, but they put on a really nice spread for an alumni association event I went to there. The Austrian embassy is ion International Court, behind UDC, which is about a 15-20 minute walk from there. It looks like the Slovak embassy is over there too. The Czech embassy is on Spring of Freedom Lane and is probably sightly closer than the latter too.

It just occurred to me that the Levine School of Music is over that way, too, and they often have interesting (and inexpensive) concerts, though I'm not sure if they do Saturday matinees.

There should be shuttle bus service from the embassies out that way to the EU headquarters in Foggy Bottom for people who are not such ardent walkers as I am.

Venues for Friday evening and Sunday Brunch have been selected ... please see the Facebook group page for pictures of some of the great menu options available at Brunch. Both locations are metro accessible, with Sunday's venue conveniently located in Virginia for position to get to the U-H Museum after brunch for the tour which grizshel is organizing. The website will be updated shortly - also with those pictures, for those that do not have access to Facebook.

Once we final our Saturday venue, we'll get the website set up and begin the official registration and funds collection processes.

I couldn't resist the UA MAD-IAD/BOS-FRA $351 a.i. fare, so I started playing with united.bomb thinking they wouldn't accept my CC as always (they kinda have a thing against CCs not issued in the USA with non-matching California adresses) but it went through, all non-ref, so I have to go to DC now!
