After you activate your new credit card you will be able to merge...

Go to: http://thankyounetwork.com
LOGIN
Click: My Account > Add a new sponsor account

In my one experience this did not work until after the first billing cycle ended, and even then I had to call be resolve a system problem which caused it to show my Citi Professional card as an "Expedia" account, but the effect was immediate.

The better approach is to wait a couple weeks AFTER you received your card, preferably before the statement date, then go to TYN and use the Add a Sponsor Account function to add your new card. If you do it too soon, sometimes TYN either does not acknowledge your new card, or even after your successfully adding the new card, somehow the card would disappear. This happened to my 2 TYN eligible cards. I had to call TYN to have them manually added. The problem is easy to fix, but is an annoying bug and one additional phone call to make.

I was told by TYN folks that each card would automatically be assigned a TYN account even you already have an active TYN account. Until that happened (the activation of the TYN account to the new card), TYN would not recognize the new card. The "activation" of TYN account of the new card takes about a week from the date you activate your credit card, according to the TYN CSR.

On both occasions I subsequently received letters from TYN thanking me "merging" my existing TYN accounts, despite what I did was to add the new cards to the existing TYN account.

Does anyone who's already applied have a fraud alert on file with Citi? I have a PPE, and my wallet was stolen a few years ago so I had a fraud alert put on my credit file. This means that credit card companies are supposed to call me on my cell phone to get more information on me before they approve my application--but the result has also been that I sometimes am denied a card based on "inability to confirm identity of applicant." I applied for the Plat Amex by entering in my Citi username and password, but perhaps that wasn't enough proof of identity to get my application approved. I was wondering if anyone else out there has a fraud alert, and whether Citi has called them to confirm information--did the process go smoothly for you?

Thanks in advance!

[ Edit: They just called me on my cell phone to verify it is indeed me who applied, and approved the application. Strange since it's 9pm, but they didn't seem fishy at all--they already had the account information for my other Citi accounts.]

My guess is, in the previous occasions Citi was not able to reach you by phone, and their phone message(s) were not returned in a timely manner.

In my experiences, Citi has been EXCELLENT in calling applicant to verify ID. My credit report had a 7 year Fraud Alert instead of a 90day temp Fraud Alert being put on it mistakenly by Exquifax. I did not realize the error until like 6 or 7 months afterward. Then it took 2 months back and forth with EQ to have it removed. (EQ readily saw it was their mistake as there was no police report on file, a premise for the 7 year Fraud Alert.) During the interim, every Citi cards I applied, I received a phone call from Citi either the same day or the following day my app was submitted. On the occasion they could not reach me on first call, they left messsage on my answering machine, asking me to call back. Never have any problem with them nor Chase. Both would call, and leave messages in case they could not reach you on first call. It has been a very painless process.

Thanks for your reply! Yes, i agree Citi has been great about contacting me via my cell phone, and it's good to know that Chase is good about it too in case I need to apply with them in the future. The applications I've had that were denied weren't from Citi... one was an Ann Taylor store credit card. I do have a 7-year fraud alert on my file at all 3 major credit agencies, and it is a headache at times...but I guess at least I can rest assured nobody's going to steal my info. I remember Verizon actually made me bring in utility bills and copies of my passport, lol.

Also, an FYI for those who haven't applied yet: The Citi Amex Plat CSR told me that my current credit line on my Citi PPE was already the maximum Citi could extend me (I think it was around $18K), and that the Plat Amex has a minimum credit line of $8,000, so they needed to move $8,000 of the credit line on my PPE to the Plat Amex. I was fine with that, but it was a little strange, since up until a few months ago I had a Citi AAdvantage card with a pretty large limit on it, certainly much higher than $18,000 total.

They had moved about $20,000 line from my old citi card to my Citi Amex, leaving only $500 line on my old card and notofying me 1 week after I activated my Citi Amex card

Just talked to Citi Amex Platinum customer service and they insisted that the points are capped at 75000. Anybody else tried to confirm the max points one can earn? It says online up to 150000, but it shows up as 75000 in my account :(

I also spoke to Citi Amex customer service and they insist that this card only qualifies for 75,000 TYPs/calender year. They said the only way to accumulate 150,000 TYPs is to have 2 accounts feeding in to your TYP account. This certainly seems like false advertising to me. The CSR superviser even told me that it was "probably" not a Citicard site that I was referencing. I am in the process of faxing a copy of the web page to a "Miss Larson" @ 605-357-2073 as directed by the CSR supervisor. Others may want to also pursue this.

Print off the page and send in a written request to the billing dispute address. They'll be forced to respond in writing. Either they will confirm it's 150K, or you'll have a nice written response you can then send to your state AG office for a advertising complaint.

I could agree. This is a false advertising. I was also instructed to fax that page. I will either write or fax my request tomorrow.

tb1212 Oct 9, 2007 4:11 am

I did fax the page as requested. In the meantime, I called back and got another CSR who looked "in the system" and confirmed that we did indeed qualify for 150,000 TYPs. It will be interesting to see what response I get from "Miss Larson". This account just sounded too good....I guess we will just have to see how it ends up. I will definitely pursue it if they do not provide the benefit they advertised. Stay tuned........

am about to apply for this card, but have a few questions:

1) Does the 15k bonus count towards the 150k cap
2) Is it a 150k cap or 75k cap?

anaggie:

It says 2 different things in 2 different places. One place states 75k and online under benefits states 150k. The cards T&C specificity state that the maximum points can be earned up to 75k, but online 150k (go figure) and that limit does include bonus points. As per my last conversation with csr, I was informed that my limit is 75k per year which includes 15k that I got as a bonus. I will have to fax a copy of online application in order for them to change it to 150k max.
