Citi's contract to issue Hilton co-branded cards ends in December 2017. Citi will sell most accounts to American Express. The criteria for determining which accounts are eligible to be sold are unpublished. Read Hilton FAQ: http://hiltonhonors3.hilton.com/en/e...-card-faq.html

From the app page:
"Weekend Night Certificates offer is not available if you have had any Citi®Hilton HHonorsTM card opened or closed in the past 24 months"."Weekend Night Certificates offer is not available if you have had a Citi Hilton HHonors Reserve Card account that was opened or closed in the past 24 months." (Language change to "any" dates back to August 2016.)
Some datapoints indicate that the certificates are emailed ~7 days after the statement in which the spend is met, but others datapoints indicate that it may take 1-2 additional statement cycles before they're actually sent.
The certificates expire 12 months from the date that they're emailed to you. Your stay must be completed on or before this expiration date.
Yes. Some people say they haven't been asked for them, but it's much better to have them and not need them than to need them and not have them.
No, you have to call the HHonors department to book them. Even regular Hilton reservations cannot book them, although they can transfer you to the right department.
Several people have reported successfully churning this card, and receiving the certificates for both cards. Closing one card before applying for another doesn't appear to be required.
You can still get as many as you want of the Citi Hilton 50k cards (except that CITI only allows two cards of any type every 60-65 days).all 50k card offers without 18 month language dead as of 7/5/15
This seems to be YMMV. Some people have reported not getting it until well after their AF payment is due, while others have reported getting it in time to cancel and have their AF refunded. More data points on this are needed.
Friday, Saturday & Sunday night, and I don't think there are any blackout nights (beyond the normal HHonors program rules). Here is the description from the Cert as well as the T&C's:

So it seems, if we hit the $10k in annual spend, we will still get the free anniversary night despite the citi card going away. Though like you all, not sure how that is going to transpire. Issue a Hilton Surpass card? I already have one of those I don't want another.
- My card year happens to be almost exactly the calendar year
- So if I hit the $10K spend by the end of 2017, I will be entitled to another weekend free room.
- In the past, I have paid the AF in January and then received the new certificate in February or beginning in March
- And if I decide I don't want the new card and don't re-up in January, they are still going to give me the certificate?

The one thing we do know: There's a lot of time passing between when they announced that something would happening and when (still not yet) they announce exactly what would be happening. So they have (had) plenty of time to come up with zillions of scenarios and think through each one and decide which way(s) to go.
This situation does not have much in the way of precedents (of a loyalty program originally having multiple cards each from two major banks and then it being reduced to only one of those major banks). So we can't turn to precedent for clues. This is a completely different situation that a loyalty program simply moving from one bank to one other bank (that latter situation has happened a lot).

It doesn't say anything official about whether they'll be converted to Amex cards, and if so whether to existing types of Amex HH cards or new types of Amex HH cards, and also if so how and when they'll converted to Amex cards. On all those issues, all I hear is crickets everywhere (Citi, Amex, and Hilton).
Now, since I only have the no-AF version of the Citi HH card myself, it doesn't matter so much to me personally. But for those who have the Reserve and have to decide whether to pay a renewal annual fee coming up for benefits (like 0% forex) that may or may not disappear on 1/1/18 (because no one has explained what will happen to Reserve holders in that sort of detail), the crickets sound really annoying, don't they?

Hey guys, I made a 7 night booking, 2 with free weekend nights and 5 with points. However, the rep that made the booking attached my free weekend nights to Tuesday and Wednesday of my reservation. Does anyone have any experience with this? Will I be ok, or if I show up, the property will want to charge me the cash rate that day? I can't get them to change it because there is no availability now, and if I try to cancel and rebook, the award availability may not come back. Thanks

An interesting question for which I do not have an answer, but I am guessing that they attached them to the two nights at the end to allow you to take advantage of the free fifth night. If your stay is Wednesday to Wednesday or Tuesday to Tuesday and they put the certs on the weekend nights, then you would have to pay for all 5 of the other nights because you wouldn't have 5 consecutive.
If it was me and I received a confirmation that the nights were booked and properly attributed to points, i think I would leave it alone.

Thanks for the reply, but I wasn't looking for an upgrade. My reservation is actually Tuesday to Tuesday and they attached the two free weekend nights on the first two days of Tuesday and Wednesday. The remaining 5 days is good. My question is will I run into issues at check in since the free weekend nights are attached to Tuesday and Wednesday?

Booking Hilton stays beyond certificate expiration date?
Hi there, quick question for you guys re: the free weekend night certificates. I have two certificates expiring at the end of October, 2017. I am hoping to use them for a trip in January 2018 to the Conrad Koh Samui. I've read on a comment somewhere online that I could book my hotel stay in October 2017 via the phone and then change the reservation date online to January 2018.
Is there any reason this wouldn't work? I've read elsewhere that the hotel might refuse to honor the certificate when I check in, because it would technically be expired by then. Has anyone had experience with this?
Thanks again for the help!

I don't know about changing, as I didn't try that, but I was able to successfully cancel a reservation using these certificates a few days ago online. I called in the next day just to verify the certificates were still in my account and ready to be used, and they said they were.
