They are very quick to reply. I got matched to Platinum too after the somewhat shaky start to the status match.
I've gone back to ask for Diamond which really has the only benefit for someone outside of US being the upgrades as if you live outside the US you get mostly sweet nothing.

Don't know yet but that's another question i asked that they ignored. I'm going to ask them again when they reply to my last email. I'm guessing it will just be to the end of this calendar year seeing as though they are not very status match friendly.

I'm glad to hear that the rocky beginning has ended well. They matched me up to 'platinum' and I'll have more stays because of their generosity as I just found a nice Comfort Suites in an area that I travel to on business often.

Ok now they are having a laugh
What a load of ...... How on earth is their platinum even close to that of other hotel brands top tier? It offer sweet nothing for Platinum especially if you don't live in US.
I can only guess this CSR has never actually looked at other hotels top statuses.
Platinum for me in Australia gets bonus points, able to make reward bookings faster and elite offers. I think even other hotels lowest status offer more than that.
Thoughts everyone?
Thank you for your email
At this time we are only able to extend the upgrades to Platinum Elite status. The Platinum Elite status is comparable to other chains top tier elite status. In order to obtain a Diamond Elite status with Choice Privileges it must be earned by staying at our hotels. To earn Diamond Elite status you must stay 40 nights or more per year.
Thank you for your inquiry. I appreciate your membership with Choice Privileges. I look forward to hearing from you should you need any further assistance.

I thought the same. When I sent in my request, I specifically made mention of having the highest status with PC, so they dind't literally 'match' CP plat to PC plat, but they did. I am not really surprised though and I didn't push them on it.

They now claim they can upgrade me to Diamond after i have some stays in my account. This was in reply to my first email i shot off immediately after they matched to platinum instead of diamond and not a reply their email about how their platinum level compares to other top level hotel elites.
I'll let you know how they reply to my last email then give up. I mean apart from bonus points and being able to book points bookings earlier i dont know what i'm getting. I just found out there are no elite offers in Australia.

Thanks, I'd appreciate the info. I have a Comfort Suites that runs similar in price to an HIX in an area that I travel to often. I would definitely like the upgrade eligibility, and of course the additional bonus points of diamond over plat.

It seems my question has been escalated to the next level management. It's a real shame they don't offer better benefits. It's a bit like priority club i guess.

The biggest benefits are the longer award night booking window and the % bonus points.

Got the card and it expires in December this year. You cant sign up if you live in Japan even though they have hotels in Japan but the Japanese website seem to just have some members site that you get special rates and that's about it. Not elite levels.
What's the bet they don't participate in the rest of the world's elite program?
