Overlapping dates at different properties

Overlapping dates at different properties
Does anyone know how Choice Privileges handles credit for two different properties booked for overlapping dates?
Granted, this is not a normal situation, but it can happen in several different ways (depart one hotel a night early without actually checking out and then checking into a different property, temporarily relocating to a second property in the middle of a longer stay, etc.).
Obviously, it is not possible to physically occupy two different hotel rooms on the same night, so it makes sense that Choice would only credit one stay, which is fair. However, Im just curious how the credit would actually post it would not be nice to find out that a one night cheap stay blocked a more expensive, longer stay from posting!
(Asking because I may actually have this happen to me this weekend, depending on how plans work out. If theres a risk that my longer stay will be prevented from crediting, then I will probably look to stay at a different chain, or maybe make the one night reservation without my Choice Privileges number.)
