I can't believe I didn't think of this until now, but I have a friend who does all things golf in Beijing, and I've heard from others that he really knows his stuff. His name is Mick Quaid (Irish Golf). I've been meaning to go golfing with him, but haven't found the time to do so yet. If you can't find him on google, PM me and I'll send you his info.

I am bumping this old thread because I went to one of Mick Quaid's Saturday golf tournaments yesterday for the first time, and I was simply blown away. His course is a 6-hole executive course, and we only played one of them (my boss isn't all that into golf), but it was far nicer than any of those expensive CITIC courses around town... and only a y25 cab ride from Shuangjing.
But, here's the deal:
-y300 pp
-this gives you unlimited use of the driving range, using Mick's very nice golf clubs (lefties seem to be limited to 7 irons, for better or for or worse)
-Mick and his partner personally worked with all of us to help improve our golfing skills
-all the (Irish) food and drink that you desire
-there is also a Quanjude on site with "driving range suites" (obviously, you have to pay to eat at Quanjude)
-at around 6p, a really good Filipino band and a semi famous Chinese singer took the stage; before that, it was Irish music only
Since I've been in Beijing for a long time now, very few things impress me anymore, but Mick Quaid's thing is an exception. The only item of importance to me that he's missing is a swimming pool.
It appears that he doesn't have a website; you can find him pretty easily on google, though. Also, please feel free to email me; I'd be happy to make an intro.
BTW, these tournaments are a monthly thing (next one is on July 16), but you can go there any time.
