Flight to PEK/HKG

I am planning a trip to Beijing & Hong Kong in July. Rates right now are quite high ($1500). Last year at about this time the rates were also on the higher end - I was wondering if anyone had any experience with Asian destinations and flight rates - will they drop for the summer sometime soon or will these rates remain pretty high. Last year I flew to NRT for $813.48 bought in April. Currently rates to NRT are also about $1400. With the new routes to begin by UAL from DC, will summer rates to PEK improve?

Thanks!

if that $1500 includes the pek-hkg leg, i don't think it's too unreasonable because, since you mentioned dc, you appear to be originating on the east coast.

if are flying from nyc or was, you might be able to get the tpac for around $800 (probably on one of the korean airlines), then pek-hkg can cost as low as $150,.... but, that is a best case scenario..... i paid over $1100 for my last july tpac (bwi origin) because i wanted to stick wanted to stick with ua. and, be prepared to pay $300 for pek-hkg (though szx is always an option).

in any case, i suggest you check back in about 5 months or so.

Summertime is high season to China especially with summer vacation for the kids/families/students.

I think that 1500 is a little high, but 1200-1300 is the norm. Good luck!
