Shanghai Visit plus additional layover visa question.

Hi,

Hopefully someone can help with my questions regarding visa’s/policy etc.

Having researched flights this is how our itinerary could potentially look.

A return ticket booked with BA from Heathrow to Shanghai. 29th March - 11th April.

We will actually only stay in Shanghai for two nights so a 72 hour tourist visa would apply. I assume we can apply ourselves online?

We are then flying to Bali with Singapore Airlines with a three hour layover in Singapore on 1st April.

We then have a return flight from Bali on the 10th April which lands into Shanghai at 6am on 11th April.

We would then depart from Shanghai at 11am on our original BA ticket on the 11th April.

Just want to confirm this would be ok and I won’t encounter issues in China.

Just to clarify the BA flights are return tickets to Shanghai and booked with BA.

The Singapore airlines flights are return tickets from Shanghai to Bali and booked directly with Singapore Airlines.

Thanks for any help. Much appreciated.

If you have British passports, you will not require a visa.
You can do a Transit Without Visa for your first arrival, which allows you up to 144 hours in Shanghai and vicinity.
On your return, you will simply transit - although SQ and BA are in different terminals - you may again require a
TWOV to change terminals.

Looks fine, but yeah, there's no such thing as a 72-hour tourist visa. What you're looking at is Transit WithOut Visa; here's the thread for that: China 24, 72, and 144 hour Transit Without Visa ("TWOV") rules master thread

You don't apply for that online, but you get the entry permit (under TWOV) upon arrival.

SQ and BA are both in T2.
