British PM eats Chengdu hot pot.

You could go to the hot pot restaurant the British PM went to last December.
Same room, same meal. 888 rmb, for same waitress add 1000 rmb?

I've got a week in Chengdu in early September. Can anyone recommend tour companies? I got a quote for an itinerary incorporating the following:

Jiuzhaigou
Huanglong
Mt. Qingchengshan
Dujiangyan
Giant Panda Breeding and Research Center
Wangjiang Park
Jiayang Steam Train

It came to about US$1900 per person twin share. Does that sound reasonable?

Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

Price out the same on your own. I'm guessing the difference is 1000 pp. If you're fine with that, then roll with it.

No, it sounds about twice the price of what a self-set up itinerary would be...assuming early Sept flights CTU-JZH-CTU, sharing an average of $130/night hotel room and sharing about $150 in total road transport costs, a couple of high speed short train tickets, and entry fees/internal transport within the sights mentioned. Maybe add $100 (split with another person) for a guide to accompany you on Jiayang train excursion day to deal with the non-English speaking logistics. The other places don't really need a tour or a guide at all, even for the Mandarin non-speaker--they are well signed in English.

These tours have a lot of overhead and profit built into their pricing. And paying for a guide when not needed seems quite extravagant.

I could get you that price too :-)

Mt. Qingchengshan+Dujiangyan take 2 days if you want to see it good. You can just take car or public transport there. Holiday Inn Express is nice in Dujiangyan. Cheap too.

From there to Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong with overnight. You should be able to get a driver if you not want public transport at about 500 RMB /day.

Panda center is just a taxi ride in Chengdu (or metro). In Chengdu easy to take a cheap hotel too.

I think the max you should pay 1000 USD on a bit of a budget. if you go luxury of course it's more.
