Red Headscarves
Has anyone else watched the four (?) part CCTV documentary, in English, about the women from the town if Sanshui in China who went to Singapore at age 18 to work, often in construction jobs building the city's monuments and later as cleaners, etc. Many stayed there until a recent effort to give them a trip back to their hometown. They're over a hundred years old now, with many living in retirement homes in Singapore. It's a fascinating story.

In Singapore they are referred to as Samsui women in English, Red Headscarves in Chinese (红头巾). If you google for for Samsui women you can probably find a lot of english information. It is indeed a pretty fascinating facet of Singapore history.

It looks like the museum in question is the Chinatown Heritage Centre, as far as I can tell as I just skimmed through the four Youtube clips.
Even if it's not, the CHC looks like it would be interesting to check out.

No wonder the US corporations rushed to China after the cold war ended to
reduce labor costs. Women take a vow of chastity and work construction labor
till they reach 90. China is a goldmine for outsourcing jobs.
