night time taxi fares still don't kick in until 11p
About a week ago, someone posted that Shanghai's current taxi flag drop rates are y14 daytime, y16 rush hour, and y18 night time (starting at 10p).
I have yet to take a taxi during rush hour since the latest fare increase (because they are impossible to find near my office), but I can now confirm that 1045p flag drop is the exact same y14 I pay at 9a. While many things in Shanghai are expensive these days, I'm not inclined to put taxis on this list.

Don't give the Shanghai cabbies a too hard time. I don't think they went on strike recently for nothing and a few recent experiences have given me the impression these guys work under extreme stress nowadays.
Thanks to the Expo getting to even the eastern reaches of Pudong has sped up considerably. Not much complaining one can do nowadays except for reaching SHA from central Puxi during rush hour.

I'm pretty sure Mos Burger is based in Japan... 10 seconds on google would clear up this mystery, but google is down (again).

Ah you are correct, I just remember seeing them all over Taiwan so figured it was Taiwan based. I still need to find a good burger joint to satisfy my cravings when I travel to Asia.

Yeah, while my temper still gets the best of me on occasion, I've been trying to make a conscious effort to be extremely tolerant of cabbies. Sure, they are supposed to understand geography and follow the rules, but many simply don't care. Shanghai is much better than BJ in this regard, but the same principles apply.

Two days in a row, at long yan road (maglev station), taxi driver boldly refused to bring me home. Only 10 minutes drive.
So I don't know them working under stress, but they certainly seem to change attitude

Anyway.
16.35 Touchdown
17.05 Arrive at gate T2, CZ

17.10 Left security zone
17.11 No taxis and huge line, several Gong'an cars. Figured no taxi will come eventually
17.20 Lucky, got on bus 5 to Shanghai Railway station
Stuck in traffic.

18.40 Arrive Shanghai Railway station.
The bus couldn't go a better way to hit all rush hour traffic (past People's square)Lessons learnt: Bus is ** during rush hour, taxi would have been faster. Shanghai station is not really convenient to access by public transport. Consider this during rushhour.

The #5 bus is certainly a no-no during rush hour because it goes through the eye of the storm (People's Square) and crosses the river via the Yan'an Tunnel, but #1 and #2 are certainly on par with taxis (at any time of the day). I can't comment on the others because I've never availed of their services.
