I can't comment on the others because I've never availed of their services.

Not to mention crowded, vs empty back seat of cab.

Hi FTers,
I will land PVG at around 4.30pm on a Friday. Given that I need to go to the Hongqiao Golfclub near the Sky Fortune Boutique Hotel, what may be a better way to go? Taxi/Maglev/Bus?

Many thanks!

I would just go for a taxi because:

1) Longyang Road to Gubei is quite a schlep
2) The Zhongshan Park bus would get you pretty close to your destination, but finding a taxi on a Friday afternoon during rush hour can be challenging (though, not at the airport)

That having been said, if you really want to save $30, please post back with the nearest subway stop to your hotel, and I'll try to come up with a bus plan that makes sense. In spite of point #2, if it's not raining, you'll be able to find a taxi to bring you the last mile or two if you are patient.

Thanks a lot, Moondog.

Is there a particular way, once landed, to discern if the traffic is jammed? Guess I will go for the Taxi route (will that be around 200 RMB?).

If traffic is bad, seems like Maglev + Line 2 to Zhongshan Park is the viable option. I am just kinda worried about getting a taxi upon arriving the Zhongshan Park station.

Appreciate your help!

At 430p, you can count on some sort of traffic jam, but only once you get get close to your destination. Since this will be the case no matter what method of transportation you chose (apart from your own legs), don't overthink it.

For the sake of simplicity, your smart options are:

1) taxi
2) bus + taxi/feet

Thanks Moondog!
If option (1), how much approx. is the fare to the golf course from the PVG?
If option (2), what bus can I take to go close to the hotel?

Many THANKS

1) I'm going to say a bit less than y200.
2) I don't think any buses will get you especially close to there. The only one I know off the top of my head is #2, and Jing'an Temple is about 20 minutes (and y25) away from your destination.

I will arrive in PVG on April 5th (the day after Qing Ming) and leave from PEK on April 12th (the day before Shangsi). I've read that travelling around the time of Chinese holidays could be... overwhelming. Does anyone have an idea on how my dates would be in this regard?

As for the metro network, avoid line 1&2 and switch to lines 3,4,9,10 etc. instead. The latter are far less crowded and you get to avoid changing trains at People's Square.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind.

No prob; it's my pleasure. BTW, here's some more info on the airport buses:

http://www.chinahighlights.com/china...ng-airport.htm

In your case, Line 6 (all the way to Zhongshan Park) would get you closer than Line 2, but the fact that it basically crawls across town would get it crossed off my list. Plus, Zhongshan Park really isn't all that far from Jing'an Temple (2 subway stops away).

Traffic yesterday afternoon on the highways was the worst I've ever seen, but #2 still made the journey in less than one hour.

I just might have to finally cave in and try it. I'll bring my stopwatch.
